8 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, June 15, 1977 Skip Ferguson New VP Sales Hol ingshed A native Californian with a long and successful career in sales management, Skip Fer- guson, has been named Vice President of Sales for the R. M. Hollingshead Corp. of Canada in~ Bowmanville, Ontario. Jim George, President of the Canadian subsidiary of Classie Chemical, an interna- tional specialty chemical, manufacturer headquartered in Arlington, Texas, made the announcement earlier this month. Mr. Ferguson will have full responsibility for directing and managing sales and marketing of all Hollingshead products in Canada and will mnanage the Canadian sales force. The company special- izes in automotive'appearance and performance products. ,Prior to joining Hollings- head, Mr. Ferguson was involved in sales management for Bardahl Manufacturing Corp. and Wynn Oul Co. He and his wife have transferred from Los Angeles, California and live in the Bowmanville area. Ctfh o l icw Women There were 190 delegates attending the 55th Diocesan Catholie Women's League Conference held in Bowman- ville on May 3th. Mrs. Patricia Barron, the convention's provincial repre- sentative, based her speech to the gathering on this year's conference theme, "The Great Voice of God Cails Out for the Fullness of Life." The delegate from Brant- ford outlined some of the methods by which Catholic women can participate in the discussion of such contempor- ary issues as energy conser- vation, pornography, abor- tion, integration of immi- grants, families and the law, and child abuse. Mrs. Barron pointed out that God calîs Christian 'ýkomen through the means of nlews- paper headlines, television and their own experience in the community. Encouraging women to keep histening for God's -voice, she urged the delegates to respond by acting as disciples of Christ, alie- viating injustice and seorving others. The delegates were from Burks Falls, Camnpbellford, Parry Sound, Honey Harbour, Lakefield and 25 other communities incorporated in the Peterborough diocese. Town Mariners 4 D&R 9 D&R Sports built up a 7-0 lead after two frames and coasted to their 4th victory behind the strong six hit pitching of Ron Hayes (4-4). The D&R hurler had a two hitter on line going into the 7th before allowing 4 runs. Bryan Cooke belted three doubles for the winners while Don Larus- s0 also ripped three hits. John Dradstra, Jeff Cann, Andy Lamont and Ray Pickett had singles. For Port Darlington, Rick Santomero (home run), Fred Schat, Terry Baker, Jim Ryorchuk (2) and Lou Patter- son collected hits.
