It was interesting to see and hear our members from this area in the session. The Senior Citizen ladies have quilted a beautifully embroidered quilt for Mrs. Darcy Proctor. It was a "king" sized area, so many stiches were necessary, but the over-all effect when completed was most gratify- ing. A large area of land south of the village is being cleared for a new development of homes. Many homes in the village and surrounding locations have a "for sale" sign on their property. Mahon, accompanied by Mrs. Ruby McMahon, Preston, and Mrs. Beatrice Beckett, Kinley, Saskatchewan, have returned from an enjoyable month's holiday in England, Wales, Scotland and northern Europe (Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway). Travel was by chartered tours and the Mc- Mahons report a most inter- esting time. Among other exciting happenings, they were fortunate to be travelling on a road leading into the town of York on the day that the queen was visiting that town. Their bus was able to pull off to the side of the road while her motorcade passed so all the passengers were able to get a good look and many were able to get pictures. Accident Damage was estimated at about $2,800 following a three-car rear end col- lision on Highway 401 near Holt Rd. Monday evening, August lst. Ontario Provincial Police in Newcastle report that the three vehicles were west- bound, travelling at about 60 miles per hour in the passing lane when the first two cars stopped suddenly. The third car skidded into the second car, sending it into the rear of the first car. Police say two people suffered minor injuries in the accident. The drivers of the cars were from Toronto, Downsview and Kingston. Oshawa Monument Co. Family Memorials .
