The Brent family bas been busy and quite successful showing their horses recently. At the Canadian National Exhibition they won a first, three thirds, fourth, fifth and sixth prizes in the American Saddlebred classes. Gordyn won- the trophy in Pleasure driving in the Saddlebred class. Mrs. Gloria Badour was Judge of the horse classes at Blackstock Fair on Saturday, August 27th. Ted and Christine Brock spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. David Brent, London and attended Tilison- burg Fair. Christine's horse won 2nd prize in the M organ Horse class. Plans are being made for the U. C. W. to tour Bowman- ville Museum on September 14th evening, meeting at the Tyrone-Churcb at 7: 00 p.m. to drive in to Bowmanville. Volunteers, would be wel- corne to help finish the refurbishing of the exterior of the manse, any time you could help. Church service will be at 1: 15 on September 4th, Sun- day school commences Sept- ember il at 10:00 a.m. OROINO Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Everett Brown (nee Pollard), of Cburch Street South, on their 4th wedding anniversary. Trust Mr. Cbarles Glanville of Newcastle formerly of Oronio is improving each day in the Bowmnanville Memorial Hospital. Mr. Frederick John Raby, of Roseberry Hill, passed away at the Port, Hope and District Hospital on Wednes- day, August 24th. Rested at the Ross Funeral Chapel, Port Hope. Service was in the chapel on Saturday afternoon, August 27th. Interment Union Cemetery, Port Hope. He was the brother of Hilda and Mrs. Charles -Meneilley (Winnie) and the late Arthur and Charlie Raby. Mrs. Roy Branch of Duchess Street visited her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McClure of Missis- sauga for a few days last week. Mrs. Kenneth Neal, D)uchess Street, bas been visiting bier cousins, MIr. and Mrs. Howard Harris of Whlitby. Miss Marion Brown of Oshawa and her niece Cathy Milîson spent a week with Mr. and Mrs. Rick'Trafferd (nee Milîson) of Kitchener and Mir. and Mrs. H. Ed. Milîson spent last weekend witb their daugh- ter and son-în-law. Mrs. Alex Watson with ber son and daugbter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Watson of Waterdown over the weekend. Mr. Joseph Staples of Main Street is a patient in the Memorial Hospital, Bowman- ville. The Orono Senior Citizens will hold their meeting in the form of a pot luck supper at 6, p.mi. on Tbursday, September lst. in tbe I100OF. Hall. The Allan Lawrence Annual Barbecue and Corn Roast was te be held on Wednesday evening, August 3lst at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Foster near Kendal.
