While here they visited Mrs. Muihol- land's and Alcx's niece who rlesides in GuelpIi. If our local postmaster, Wayne Hunt makes errors in sorting the mail thîs week it, will be quite understandable. Saturday, September 3rd, is the date set for his wedding to Miss Dale Powell of New- castle. Our best wishes are extended to the happy couple. Miss Vicky Fajt is a patient in Civie Hospital, Peterbor- ough, following an accident last Friday on hier parents', tob4cco farm. Among injuries sustained was a fractured collar-bone. t is hoped that Vicky will -be released from hospital later this week. Mrs. Grace Fallis, Gordon, Wayne, Brent and Gerry, were present at the Spademan family reunion on Sunday held at the beautiful farm home of Miss Ruth Spademan at Clare- mont. Several members of the' Curtis families attended the wedding in Whitby on Satur- day of Miss Connie Curtis, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Curtis. Recep- tion followed in the Harmon Park Arenla Club House. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stoldt, Sharon, Donna and Karen Stewart returned home from a holiday trip through the Northeastern States and New Brunswick. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Van- Wieringen and house guests fron, Holland spent the week- end with Mr.,and Mrs. John VanWierîngen and Karla in Kincardine. They also called on friends in Guelph, On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Barrie Sytnyk, Christina and Shannon; had as supper guests, Barrie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sytnyk from Oshawa. Barrie and Christina' were celebrating their birth- days on August 27th and 28th respectively. W eare sorry to hear that Wes McMahon of Bethany was taken into hospital in Peter- borough on Sunday, August 2lst. We all extend to Wes our wishes for. a very speedy recovery. Karen Neals and David Fallis have spent two week's holidays in Iroquois Falls with their aunt and uncle, Lauretta and Ken Halfyard. 1Mrs. Wilbur Graham was a guest at the wýedding of a friend in Carleton Place on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Ander- son and family recently attended a family reunion held. at the home of relatives in Brockville.. Mrs. Winnifred Gleadhill, St. Petersburg, Florida, is spending three weeks with lier daughters, Mrs. Sue Plead- well, Pontypool and Mrs. Avril Yarrow in Oshawa. Ail ladies are invited to a community shower for bride- to-be Miss June Hyland. Shower will be held in Pontypool Community Centre on Wednesday, September 7th at 8 p.mi. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis McKay spent the weekend with their son, Bryan, in Owen Sound. Mr.' and Mrs. Herb Curtis and family and Danny Bazinet visited with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sterling and family in Hamil- ton over the weekend. They also travelled to Fantasy Island, a, real treat for the children. Mr. an d Mrs. Ron Sutch and Mrs. George Van Dam, Jr. were in Toronto last week helping Mr,. and Mrs. Gary VanDam move into their new home~. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Willls, Sr. have sold their home in Courtice and have moved into memorated their fifty years of marriage by greeting their many friends and relatives in thg Parish Hall of St. Paul's Chuirch, Bethany. Congratula- tions are extended to these two well-known couples. On Sunday, August 2lst, Rev. Victor Walker, a former Presbyterian minister at Ballyduff, celebrated his ninetieth birthday at a garden party held at t he home of his younger son, Dr. Rowan Walker, Whitelock Cresc. Willowdale. Among the mîany attending were residents from Janetville and Pontypool. A bus load of -citizens from Stirling, West Huntington and Belleville were present to honor their former pastor. Mrs. Gerald Fisk and friend, Mrs. Angiers, are currently hoIidayi'ng in Éngland.. If the strike of airline employees doesn't affect Jessie's plans, she wil be back next week to resumne her duties on the teaching staff at Grandview. In local ball this week, Pontypool Junior Girls have eliminated Bethany and now meet Cavan in the finals. Bantam boys were defeated 6-4 by Bethany in their final game and now l3ethany and Bailieboro meet in the finals. Pontypool Generals played four games this past'-week against Nestleton, Yelverton, Port Perry and Kedron and won ail four. Richardson Farms met Bethany on Sun- day, and to quote CKLY, was pounded 8 to 1. Bethany, Fraserville and Pontypool are involved in a round-robin series withBet.hany presently in the lead. HELEN FLORE NCE -WEARN A member of Stouffville Baptist Church, Helen Flor- ence Wearn, aged 93, passed away, following a short ill- ness on Monday, August lSth, 1977 at HilIlsdale Manor, Oshawa. Mrs. Wcarn was born in Portsmouth, England, daugh- ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Clark. She was married August 13th, 1907 to Arthur Moriran Wearn. A resident of Oshawa the past 10 years, she had previously resîded in Clare- mont,ý Enniskillen and Tor- onto. Surviving are her son Law- rence Wearn, a daughter Muriel Parrott, 10 grandchild- ren and 19 great grandchild- ren. Funeral services were held on Thursday, at the Northcuit Elliott Funeral Home withý Reverend David Eastwood4 officiating. Paîl-bearers were Messrs.ý Donald Wearn, Peter Par'rott,.
