REGISTRATIONS - for the Moose Seminars are well below expectations due to the fact most clubs have not started their fall meetings yet. Anyone interested in the course which will be held at York University, September 23 - 24, should write for information to Box 28, Peter- borough, K9J 6Y5. WINNERS AGAIN - Although no official word has been received, it is understood that Solina Senior soccer team defeated Tyrone 2- 1 on Saturday night to take the Darlington Senior Soccer title again for this year. They accumulated six points required with one tie and three wins. This must be more than a dozen years that Solina has dominated the league, but things are getting tougher every year so possibly they could have problems in 1978. Several other teams in the league must hope so. ICE IS READY - The hard-working crew at Memorial Arena in Bowmanville have been putting in long hours pr.eparing the ice and with any kind of luck should have it in good shape by now. We visited the ice palace last week and things were progressing nicely. CLIPPER RACE - The weather was rather breezy and the lake rough for the first Oshawa Clipper Race held last weekend, with the result that only il boats of the 34 entries completed the 70-mile course to Wilson, N.Y. and return. Several were from Durham Cruisemarina at Port Darlington. Gord Sedgewick of Oshawa was the first one home. Ken McLean's Ba Bi Mi lost two sails and had to return to port. A phone call on Tuesday brought news that John O'Toole of Durham Cruisemarina wasn't included in the Oshawa Times story of the event, although he did complete the course but didn't come in until 8 p.m. Sunday, The winner landed around noon. * o lh D tma l CClub The annual golf championship day was held at Bowmanville Country Club on Saturday, followed by a banquet and dance. These photos show the champions and runners up in various categories, Retai Tow Hal Bowmanville entertained Whitby at the local lawn bowling greens on September 8 and the weather was kind. the greens were all in use and it was a real nice evemg. We used a different format and made it Bowmanville vs. Whitby, total score to count and the winner to take the Town Hall Pigeons et aL Big winners for the home town were Mervin and Norma Brock and Una Miller. Big winners for Whitby were the team who played against S. Carson, M. Perris and A. Berry who, to put it gently, did not have a particularly good night. The final score was Bow- manville 94, Whitby 82. The luncheon following was super and Whitby said they didn't want the old Town Hall anyway so everybody went home happy. from left to right, men's runner up Rick James, men's champion Dave MeQuillan; owner Bob MacDonald, ladies club champion Marion Lane and runner up Pat Mewett Logion Ladies Bowling Team Standings Terry 3 points, 2,849 pinfall, Etcher 3 points, 2,683 pinfall, Buday 2 points, 2,720 pinfall, Gray 1 point, 2,666 pinfall, Sutcliffe O point, 2,531 pinfall, Fairey 0 point, 2,520 pinfall.
