Frank Reators Toros Win Two Weekend Games On Saturday, Oct. 29 the W. Frank Real Estate Toros downed Bay Ridges at home by a score of 6-3. The first goal was scored by Bowmanville. It came on a good shot from the faceoff by Stan Ritche assisted by Ron Hopcroft. Good forechecking by Bow- manville late in the second period resulted in their 2nd goal shown Houston scored the goal and an assist went to Glenn Mathews. Less than one minute later, Bay Ridges got right back in the game as Scott Ramsay shot a rebound behind Scott Bate, Garnet Whelan and Gary Temush added assists. The Toros went up 3-1 30 seconds later when on a 3 on i break, Glen German scored, assisted by Ron Hopcroft and Mike Glass. It didn't take the Toros long to score in the third period when at 1:20 Don Daigle gave the Toros a 4-1 lead. Assists went to Steve Allen and Troy Wood. The Toros just could not seem to get untracted as there were many defensive lapses and the for- wards could not seem to shoot the puck with much gusto. On Saturday the old rivalry between Markham was re- newed for this season with Markham hanging on for a three to two victory. The Millionaires opened the scoring with just 27 seconds gone in the first period on a goal by Harvey Meek. The Gas Men tried the game at the 40 second mark of the second period on a goal by Rod Plain assisted by Darcy Cummings at the six fifteen mark. David Teel scored for Markham assisted by Andy Wendorf. Markham went two up at the 14:01 mark of the second period when Greg Chandezier tipped in a pass by Mike Kernaghan. The Toros scored the final goal and a very much disputed goal as the puck seemed to go into the net ai ter the whistle had blown after much arguing by coach Gary Adamson which ended by his ejection from the game. Goaltender Mike Paterson worked hard to earn his first shutout, of the season. The Toros played a well prepared team in their second match of the season at the Hampton Arena on Saturday, October 22. Port Perry dem- onstrated that they are a strong team, especially in the basics of skating and check- ing. The first and second periods were close and ex- citing. Port Perry scored the first goal but the Toro's Andy Paton evened the score. The opposition notched another in the first period and the second period was played scoreless. In the third period Port Perry proved themselves dominant scoring three unan- swered goals.
