Margaret and Orville Ashton were among the guests at a famfily party held as a surprise to celebrate the 3th weddrng anniversary for June (nee Ashton) and Bih Bragg at theirhome. Our U.C.W. local group was among the top rating in attendance at the eastern section of the- Autumn Regional meeting of U.C.W. Oshawa Presbyterial held in Newtonville U.C. last Tuesday to hear the most inspiritional proram. Pack Masquerade The regular meeting of the Brownies held a pleasant change into a costume party last Monday evening. Each of the eleven members were interesting representations of some one. The judges selection had 4 classes; (a) Spookiest was a ghost-Joy Crait, (b) Funniest was a double choice clown- Kimberly Whitney and tramp- Sherry Snowden, (c) Best designed was a double choice dog-Kelly Heard, and bunny- Allison Heard, (d) Prettiest was sunflower-Daniel Gai- lagher. The other characters who won consolation prizes were Green Giant-Kim Greenslade, Hawaiins-Pam Milîs and Carolyn Werry, old lady- Penny Beckett, western-Daisy Challice. The leaders Sandra Greensiade, Anne Heard and Eleanor Werry directed 'a enjoyable program of dancing in candle-light, crafts, spooky music, games and a delicious lunch. The guest judges were Flossie Hobbs and Margaret Ashton. Youth Group Masquerade Dance The Youth Group had their 2nd annual Masquerade Dance on Saturday evening in the Community Hall when 80 young people and their two chaperons danced to the music provided by the three members of, the Buma family and their sister Helen Brown, Bowmanville, a disc jockey. Judging of the costume wearers to choose a Princess and Prince was a difficuit duty for the judges Tracy Hender- son and Don Rowan who chose Shelly Kossatz of St. Peter's Anglican Church, Oshawa and as Prince Mark Henderson. Winners of the spot dance were Darla Lamb and Larry Leveck. Jack-O-Lanterns were gleaned from the Nielsen Greenhouses. Highlight was a solo dance by H-elen Brown and Rev. J. Merrett of St. Peter's Anglican Church, Oshawa. Two astronauts from outer space joined the party for 4 brief visit. Pres. Allan Ashton expressed the appreciation of the group to ail who attended or assisted in making the party a successtul event. OBITUARY, LLOYD JOHN CLYSDALE Retired for six years, Lloyd John Clysdale, aged 60, dierd suddeniy on Wednesday, October 19th, 1977 in MemoicýraeJ Hospital, Bowmanville. Born at Starkville, educated there and at Crooked Creek, he was the son of John and Ruby Clysdale. He was married September 9th, 1939 to Lena Farrow. A resident of the Newton- ville area except for two years in Orono, he was a self employed mechanic for 20 years, and a member of Newtonville United Church. Lef t to mourn his passing are his wife Lena,, two daughters Carolyn (Mrs. Phil Gilmer), Doris (Mrs. Ray Tompkins), five grandchild- ren and a brother Gorden Clysdale. Funeral services were con- ducted on Saturday at the Morris Funeral Chapel by Reverend A. Tizzard. Paîl-bearers were Messrs.
