Section Two The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, November 9, 1977 il Lefters to h The Editor (From Page 10) had already arrived at that conclusion). fIt is the responsibility of the government to promote an objective conclusion by hold- ing a hearing according to the Environmental Assessment Act. Otherwise they might as well stop pretending and toss it in the circular file, where if may rightly belong. Ms. Jikke L. Miedema. Bowmanvilie Product of U.S.A. Ah yes, interesting and bard on the blood-pressure. It would be nice to be able to write in the vein of Bill Smileýy's Oct. 26th article about tbankfulness, gently, thoughtfully profound and humorous. We do have so much for which to be thankful. Mr. R.L.,Willsher's letter of the 26th October is not in the class of Bill Smîley or "Morgan." For instance, it makes people want to teli of the things they are NOT thankful for or about--like nuclear-ism. Stili trying to be "Smiley- ish" it is only bumane to say what a pity it is that the Chamber of Commerce should be disturbed. Trulv. we are sorry for any and ail disturbed people. Disturbance usually is caused by lack of understand- ing and Mr. Willsher shows great iack of understanding and some disturbing ignor- ance in bis faith in "the powers that are", keeping us ail "safe and healthy.- He shows great faifh in what he bas read and been told by Ontario Hydro and those wbo would exploit our heaith and safety for X number of dollars.' This is natural perhaps for a C.O.C. presi- dent. He hopes, you see, some of "the promised" wealth' is going to escalate in the districf's stores and busines- ses. He bas been toid that the adjacent power stations, nresent and proposed, wili do this. Ergo, Mr. Wilisher believes it! As chiidren some of us were told the moon was made of green cheese and for a while we believed if. As we grew older and learned about planets, living and (1-d, wE feit, "now we know f al! W e kneiW that the moon wvas a dead planet, reflecting the light of the sun (a huge firey planet) to our "live' planet Eartb. We didn't of course, know it "Iail", only a smal heginning of tbings f0 know concerning planets. To the great concera of many dedicated people. like the enviroamental citizens' groups, wbom Mr. Willsber bas woefully maligned, there are far too many people la this district and the world, who still have no understanding or interest la the saftey-hazards, admitted by A.E.C.B. and Ontario Hydro officiais, who can give no positive answers for the end safety resuits of storage wastes. Through grasping for wealth and more wealth, regardless of ecology, Planet Earth is headed for des- truction--another dead planet. The stores and businesses la this district and the econorny of the whole lovely world, hlasted, empty, DEAD. According to George Mon- teîth, Toronto engineer, heard on "Newsmakers" CHFI Oct. 28, 1977 at 6 p.m., "planet earth's resources, wili have broken down completely ia another thirty-five to fifty years." This man bas been trying for fifteen years to have various, goveraments the world over, pay attention f0 bis and metaphyiscists' find- ings. Lately a little more attention is being paid to these warnings by scienfists but the "lecoaomy-people", would rather such facts were not publicly admitted. Maybe for, Morgan's question and peace of mind about the million dollars beiag sbifted, from The Ontario Treasury f0 The Board of Education, the answer is that the rnoney 15 f0 be used for re-educating people! That wouid certainly be ALL PRICES EFFECTIVE NOV. 9-15. 1977,.IN METRO TORONTOe MISSISSAUGA a OAKVILLE 0 THORNHILL 0 BRAM PTON MALTON - WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO LIMIT QUANTITI ES. 0 BOWMANVILLE
