On Saturday, September 1Oth, 1977 at Newtonville United Church, Rev. A. Tiz- zard solemnized the marriage of Emma Marie Ruth Andrews and Glen Reid Wood. Their parents are Mr. and Mrs. Norman Andrews, Orono and Mr. and Mrs. Reid Wood, Newtonville. Mr. Douglas Dewell was the organist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin with a square neckline and a fitted lace bodice with large bell sleeves. The long chapel train fell from the waist. They were gowned alike in turquoise blue polyester jersey and wore straw picture hats accented with turquoise velvet ribbon and dried flowers. Each carried baskets of blue and white silk and dried flowers with long white silk velvet ribbon accented with blue silk forget-me-nots and all wore silver necklaces, the gift of the bride. The best man was Mr. Les Caswell and the ushers were Messrs. Rick Powell, brother of the bride, Glen Wood, brother-in-law of groom, Terry Stark, and Cam Wilson. The groom wore a dust blue Swille tuxedo and a blue shirt while his attendants wore dark blue windsor tuxedos with white shirts. All wore blue turquoise boutenieres and groom wore a red sweetheart rose matching the bride's. For the reception held at the Port Hope Canadian Legion, the bride's mother received the guests in a formal gown of strawberry chiffon, a match- ing cape and corsage of pink silk roses. She was assisted by the groom's mother who chose a mint green polyester jersey gown with floral cape and corsage of silk yellow roses. Mr. Douglas Mcllroy, cousin of the bride was master of ceremonies. Leaving on a honeymoon to Paradise Stream, Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvania, the bride wore a three piece outfit of navy blue, a beige blouse and a corsage of silk apple blossoms. Miscellaneous showers were given to the bride by Mrs. Helen and Cindy Elliott, Mrs. Donna Heard and Mrs. Donna Bradley, Mrs. Bertha Powell and Mrs. Linda Couch, Mrs. Berniece Moffatt and Mrs. Donna Hutton. On September 16, the east half of expropriation hearings concluded after four days, Ontario Hydro stated in a newsletter last month. Hear- ings on the western half of the project (from the Oshawa area to Haldimand-Cramahe Townships line) finished in August. "Hearing officers, Harold Goldkind and David Vine should be submitting their reports with recommenda- tions to the Minister of Energy soon," says the report. "Energy Minister, James Taylor, in accordance with the Expropriation Act, will make a decision within 90 days after receiving the reports. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a formal gown of polyester satin designed with a chapel length train, V neckline, high waist- line and full length sleeves, back button and loop closing. The neckline, waist, sleeves and hem of the gown were trimmed with applique lace. A veil of bridal illusion and the head piece were of matching lace, and she carried red Sweetheart roses, white carnations and baby's breath. The matron of honor was Mrs. Alice Glasbergen, sister of the bride, and the brides- maids were Miss Sandra Kamminga, sister of the bride, and Miss Betty Heide- man, sister of the groom. Best man was Mr. Bill Heideman, brother of the groom, and the ushers Mr. George Kamminga, brother of the bride, and Mr. Ed Heide- man, brother of the groom. The bride's mother received the guests at the reception Hi held at Knox Christian School Auditorium in a formal wine colored gown and matching jacket with a corsage of pink Sweetheart roses and white carnations, assisted by the groom's mother who wore a brown formal gown with a corsage of yellow Sweetheart roses and white carnations.
