JUNIORS WIN,, SENIORS LOSE - Courtice Secondary' Scbool's two outstanding girls', basket- hall teams nearly made it to the COSSA finals, but the Seniors were harely outpointed in the LOSSA final hy Pickering Trojans 58-55 after Cougars had led most of the game. In the junior final, Courtice juniors dominated play throughout to defeat Oshawa Central Chiefs 46-42. The Chiefs staged a strong comneback in the final period but couldn't pot enough baskets to overcome the Cougar lead. The COSSA finals take -place today in Lindsay. HOW SWNEET IT WAS - The Stouffvilie Clippers carne to town Sunday night, no doubt hoping to continue their winnilng streak against the Marina Junior C Eagles whorn they had defeated twice this season in their srnall arena. It was not to be, the Eaglýes poured on the coal and kept rarnming the puck, at the Clippers' goalle al night until he rnust have been sick of the sight of rubber. When it was alfover, the Bowrnanville boys were out fin front 7 to 3 and rnighty happy about it. GREY CUP FIASCO -- Those Edmonton Eskimos, supposedly-accus tomed to playing in cold weather on snow-covered turf were neyer in the game, at Montreal on Sunday. In contrast, Alouettes' Virginia native Sonny Wade, once the first quarter was over, appeared to thrive on the slippery surface, throwing more accurate passes than he often has done when conditions were much more favorable. And that place kicker Don Sweet also appeared right at home as they gave the Eskimios a thorough druhhing., The 68,000 plus fans, except those fromr Montreal, must pave been disgzusted to have paid a lot of money for tickets, wi th i t ending up no contest. Maybe next year- they might consider moving the date a month earlieir or finding a way to raise more millions and top that Olymapic stadium off with a roof.
