10The Canadian Statesman, Býowmanville, December 21, 1977 Section Two TRINITY ucw, Trinity U.C.W. held their Christmas meeting a week early on Tuesday, December 13 and despite the inclement weather there was a very good attendance. President, Mrs. A. Blair opened the meeting with a welcome to ail, a Christmas verse entîtled "News from Bethlehem" and Drayer. Mrs. J. Peters explained that the worship service and programme were combined in a film entitled "And There Were Shepherds". The story was interspersed with carols with Mrs. J. Munday as accompanist. With Mrs, Peters at the projector and Mrs. M. Stute as narrator we enjoyed the story of how the Shepherds were led to the Mrs. A. Blair took charge of the business meeting. The minutes of the November meeting were adopted as read. Mrs. A.W. Harris read the Treasurer's report and the roi! cail was taken. Year-end reports were given. Mrs. R, Coombes, of the Finance Committee, said ail obliga-. tions had been met and as of December 6, 1977, $3838.52 was in the treasury. The commit- tee had worked diiigently t(, budget this money wisely and brought in recommendations for its use. These suggestions were ail accepted by the members. Mrs. Harold Hammond, Corresponding Secretary, reported 677 cards sent during the year with 77 of those going out since the November meet- ing. The work of this office has been turned over to the Outreach Committee of the Council. Mrs. G. Barrie of Supply and Welfare saîd no bales were packed in Novem- ber. Mrs. C. Allun, Press and Publicity chaîrman reported ail ten meetings had been reported in the Statesman and asked that a letter of thanks be sent to that office for the co-operation during the year. Mrs. M. Slute reporting for the Membership Committee stated that they had given lists of names of people who needed a friendiy caîl to each of the unit leaders, Mrs.,C. Downey, Social Convenor, reported a very busy year catering for wedding receptions, Lion's dinners, a 9th birthiday ee, bration, Rotary LadiesNght, wedding anniversaries, after church and after funeral lunches. She displayed one of the dozen tote trays and a large strainer that had been purchased for the kitchen. Mrs. Blair commended Mrs. Tait and Mrs. Brooks on their work coliecting used stamps and Dominion store tapes. She urged ail ladies of the church, te continue savîng stamps and tapes. Mrs. F. Jamieson, the Secretary, gave a very detail- ed report of the varîcus programmes and activities of the units and iisted the programmes enjoyed at the regufar monthly meetings. A few of the educational and inspira tionai topics presented were talks and displays of antiques and crafts* siides shown by those who had been travelling, home life in a Jewish family, a review cf General Council in Calgary, and taiks on how we can use the libraries in the région to better advantage. 1The Nominating report was read by Mrs. T.
