Another young lady leaves this week to visit friends in Mexico. 1On the other side of the coin there are those who actually seemi to enjoy the white stuff. Nine of our young people boarded an excursion bus load on Friday evening for a skiing week-end near Montreal. This was sponsored by the graduation class from Guelph University during the year. Brenda and Terry Malcolm graduated and included as extras Candy Malcolm, Bryce Jimmo, Mar- leah and Paul Brown, Ian Page, Jane Connolly and Marti Malcolm. Sounds like fun! Speedy convalescence to Mrs. Allan Howe of this community who will be in a Peterborough Hospital for anotheri week recuperating from an operation. Agnes as President of the U.C.W. was greatly missed at their monthly meeting. Sympathy is extended to the family members and friends of Mr. Harry Shea of Fleet- wood who passed away this week. Harry was well-known 1throughout Manvers Twp. having served in the capacity of Twsp. Assessor for several years during the f ifties. Yelverton U.C.W. News The February Meeting of the Yelverton U.C.W. was held on Thursday, February 2 (Groundhog Day) at the- spacious home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Malcolm with 13 members present. Mrs. Linda Pfoh Vice-Pres. peied in absence of Mrs. Agnes Howe. Following the Ode, Mrs. Marie Foote con- vened the Devotional. Linda after welcoming those present, read an appropriate poem. "Groundhog Day", Rol Caîl was answered with a point of interest on the Caribbean Islands. Minutes of p receding meeting were read by Set. Treas. Thora Gray and approved. The Treasurer Report was provided by Treas. Audrie Brown., The Flower Report was given by Eileen Malcolm and Thank you notes read by Sect. During the business portion the dates set at the Annual Congrega- tional Meeting were confirm- ed as follows. Garden Party in .lune. Church Anniversary September 24th (Sunday). A sizeable donation was given by the U.C.W, to the Treasurer of Yelverton United Church for current expenses. A bus trip is being planned for late May. Next meeting each member is to brin g a donation for bazaar next faîl and an Easter Reading. Meeting was closed with' Benediction. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess the "Malcolm girls"- Eileen and Brenda. The Program which followed was taken by Linda Pf oh on the Caribbean Islands - very appropriate at this time of year.
