Before the meeting got underway, a Tupperware Party was conducted by Mrs. Marg. Williams of Orono. The bonus gift from the sales are to be items for the Penny Sale. The meeting was opened by singing the Institute Ode followed by repeating the Mary Stewart Collect. The motto for the meeting was A United Canada. The roll eall was answered by giving a current event. Many items of business had tbe deait with. The W.I. and U.C.W. together are to cater to a wedding in July. The District Annual is to be held in Kendal on, May 9th This involves a lot of planning. The Penny Sale date has been changed to a date in May. It was moved to hold a Bake Sale the day of the Penny Sale. The meeting closed with the singing of O Canada. A social haîf hour of fellowship was spent over lunch provided by Mrs. Dykeman. The April meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. R.,Elliott whîch is the annual meeting when al reports are to be given by the standing committees., Kendal U.C.W. was repre- sented at three U.C.W. special meetings this past week. Monday evening, Newcastle held an Easter Thank Offering Service with, Mrs. B.A. Dickson from, the Oshawa Presbyterial as their guest speaker.- On Thesday' afterzoon Kirby U.C.W. hosted a speaker, Mrs. Joan Higginson from Community Care for Seniors in Bowmanv- ville. On Wednesday evening Shiloh U.C.W. had Mr. Burton, principal of Oshawa Crippled Children Centre show ýa film on Participation House which is operating in Markham. Mrs. Campbell alsospoke on the progress being 'made on the Participation House which is to be built on Concession Street in Bowmanville, just west of the Training 'Sehool grounds. Mrs. Julia Jackson returped home last week frbm a couple of weeks in California.ý Mr. and Mrs. Mark Wagar and -family are also back from a holiday in Florida., Mrs. Margarettaý Stevens spent a few days last week with hier son and familyý, Professor and Mrs.ý Jim Stevens of Guelph. Mrs. Irene Dunbar of Peter- boroulgh visited last Saturdayý with Mr. and-Mrs. R. Elliott. Kendal grades 1 and 2 presented a play "Little White Rabbit' last Tuesday at 1:30 to the parents. Thereý were approximately one hundred- people present. All the pupils in grades 1 and 2 took part. They made the tickets and programns with the parents helping to make the costumes. Mr. Doug Dewell played the piano for the performance. They gave a repeat perform- ance at Kirby Centennial School at 9:45 a.m. on March l6th. The children and their teachers are to be congratu- lated on the fantastic job doue by the pupils. Saturday evening over forty members and their familles of the Couples' Club enjoyed a pot luck dinner in Kendal Sunday School room. Mr. Sid Rutherf ord from Kirby showed slides on, a trip' to Scotland with a most inter- esting commentary of their experi.ence in search l of his 'roots' lu Scotland.
