YELVERTON On Wednesday evening, Mrýs. Danny Clarke nee Beverley McCabe,' third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley McCabe of Lotus, was honored by the community with a miscellaneous shower. The shower was held in the, basement of, the, Yelverton United Church with some tbirty ladies present from this and adjacent, communities. The program consisted of a bat contest by Mrs. Agnes Howe and a reading by Mrs. Marleah Bowen. Mrs. Isabelle Wilson pinned a corsage on the honored guest and she was assisted in the opening of a fine array of goodies by hier sister and two of ber girl friends. Beverley expressed hier tbanks for tbe gifts and to tbe committee for arranging tbe evening and invited friends to caîl to see tbem in Oshawa. A sumptuous luncb concluded tbe evening. The committee in cbarge were Mesdames Marjorie Stinson, Isabelle îWilson and Corie Malcolm.ý Mr. and Mrs. Murray Malcolm and girls beld a birtbday party for Mr. Wilbert Malcolm on St. Patrick's Day whicb tbe immediate family attended. Tbose present included tbe Howard M aIcolms and family, Mrs. Hazel Whittaker, Mrs.. Dôrotby Draper and family. For bis 86th birthday, Wilbert w as presented with a harmonica with whicb he entertained tbose present. On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Malcolm and Lana visited Mr. and Mrs. Bob Pbilp of Sterling and Lana participated in tbe Western Jamboree held tbere in the evening. Also took part in the Jamboree beld in Nestleton Community Hall on Sunday. Miss Valerie Malcolm was a weekend visitor witb friends in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Adams of Bowmanville were Sunday evening vsitors witb tbe Murray Malcolms. Mrs. Fred Stacey spent a few days this week in Toronto as guest of ber sister-in-law, Mrs. Norma Cutts. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gray visited Mr. and Mrs. Randy Longfield and girls of Brampton on Sunday to inspeet tbeir new grand- daughter and Thora's name- sake. THERESA BEAUPRE A resident of Oshawa for 35 years, Mrs. Theresa Beaupre died at Bestview Oshawa Lodge on Sunday, March 19, 1978. The former Tberesa Morin was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Morin and was boru December 6, 1909 in St. Lin, Quebec. She married James W. Beaupre in 1928 in New Liskeard, Ontario, wbo prede- ceased her in'1971. She was a member of St. Gregory's Churcb. Sbe is survived by one daugbter, Mrs. Josepb Tamblyn (Ilene) of Osbawa; one son, Larry of Orono; one sister, Mrs. Elmeda Beaupre; tbree brothers, Ernie of Osbawa, O'scar and Charles of Montreaý. THOMAS (TOM) HENRY LEE CARTER A well-known and respected citizen of tbe area, Thomas (Tom) Henry Lee Carter, aged 64, passed away in Memorial Hospital, Bowmau- ville, on Saturday, Marcb lltb, 1978. He had.,been ill since December 24tb. Son of the late Charles Henry and Alice Hanna Lee Carter,' b e was boru in Saskatoon, Saskatcbewan, and educated primarily 'in Kingston. On March 7tb, 1942 be was married to Georgina Florence Somerscales. A baker for 40 yearg in tbe family business kuown as tbe Carter Family Bakery, be bad been a resident in town for 40 years, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 178. ALMIRA (ALMA) FARROW In failing health for three years, Amira (AImra) Farrow passed away Thesday, March l4th, 1978 in Marnwood Nursing Home, Bowmanville in ber 87th year. Born in Clarke Twp. Lot 20, Con. 1, educated in Brown's Public and Bowmanville Higb Scbool, she was tbe daughter of Fernando and Elizabeth Perrin and was married on April llth, 1915 to Wellington Farrow wbo predeceased ber in September 1976. A resident of Newcastle for 13 years, sbe has previously resided on, a farm east of Newcastle for the first 47 yers of marriage. A devoted wife and mother, ber interests centred around her home, family and helping others. She was a member of Entertain at St. Patrick's Day Supper As well as providing music from a washboard, drums and bass fiddlemade from a broomstick and barrel, this group provided entertaining comedy last Friday evening at a St. Patrick's day supper. A good crowd was on hand for the supper at t he St. Paul's United Church and the talent show which followed offered a variety of entertainment. Shamrock çlecorations and green clothes were plentiful.* Members of this band include: Jim Coombes (leader), Harold Yellowlees, Irwin MacEwen, Fred GalIop and Larry Welsh. Newcastle United Church, the U.C.W., and the Newcastle Horticultural Society. Surviving are bier daughter Wylma (Mrs. Stanley Allin) and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by an only sister Jean Perrin in 1977. Reverend David Spivey, Newcastle, conducted funeral services on 'Friday at the Morris Funeral Chapel. FLORENCE MARION (FLOSSIE) GRILLS Florence Marion (Flossie) Grills dîed at the Oshawa General Hospital on Thurs- day, Marcb 14, 1978 after a lengtby illness. She lived at R.R. 3, Bowmanville, Ont. The former, Florence Marion (Flossie) Yeo was' born in Bowmanville and -married Orval Grills on September 1, 199, at Courtice. Mrs. Grills is survived by bier husband, Orval, two daughters, Mrs. Marion Dean of Oshawa, Mrs. John Lehane (Lorraine) of ' Taylor, Michigan, one son, Delbert, of Bowmanville; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Colville, of Bow- manville and Mrs. Sid Rgynard, (Violet), of Cameron; five brothers, Russell and Delbert of Oshawa, Gordon of Bowman- ville, Herbert of Prince Albert, Sask., and Lloyd of Kinouut. She was predeceased by three brothers, Orville, Lorne and George. She is also survived by seven grandcbildren, Barbara Ann, Lorne, George, Denuis, Charlene, Clara and John. Private funeral was held at the Armstrong Funeral Home on Saturdayý, March 18, followed by cremation. Rev. Robert Chapman officiated. LORNE SIMPSON A resident of Enniskillen since 1920, Mrs. Lorne Simpson, died at Hillsdale Manor, on Tbursday, March 16, 1978. The former Mary Jane Francis (Mamie) was born April 28, 1890, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Francis and married Lorne Simpson on September 30, 1908, in North Cote, Ontario. Mrs. Simpson was prede- ceased by lier husband, Lorne Simpson, who died on March 8, 1962. Que sister, Cassie McBeath, and one brother, Donald Francis died before bier. She is survived by four~ daughters, Mrs. Mervyn Allin (Marion) of Columbus, Mrs. David Arbuckle (Maude) of Joliet,- Illinois,, Mrs. Bill Taylor (Betty) of St. Catharines and Mrs. Marîo Cendese (Alice) of Niagara Falls, Ont. Also surviving are three sons, Donald and Rod of Enniskillen and Jim of Trenton. Also 20 granchildren and là5 great grandchildren survive. Mrs. Simpson rested at the Morris Funeral Home.
