Harold is a young man, on the threshold of manhood, who is under the perpetual guard of his three friends who are attempting to act as Harold's deceased brother. The friends, Fatto Kleest, Lew Brindie and Obee Zwick, played by Gord Walker and Chris Locke, Glen Austin and Jeff Simser, and Rob Bowman and, Paul Sheridan respectively, attempt to build Harold Up as an athlete to initiate him into the world of women. The' certain woman for whom they. are striving, happens to be one of the classiest young women in the city of New York. Because of this, Fatto, Lew and Obee arrange for Harold to be cultured,, by means of dancing lessons,, English poetry and tutoring and wine instruction. Even though Harold is cultured by his friends, there is one small, sweet and simple problem by the name of Miss Iris Munger, played by Lori Fraser and Rosemary Killeen. Mr. Robert Sheridan, the producer and haîf of the directing staff, remarked "Involve- ment"! when asked about his motives for the production of Harold. He believes that as many students as possible should be mnvolved in these drama productions as a learn- ing experience as well as a form of extra- curricular activity. Mr. Michael Lindop, the other haîf of the direct- ing team, believes that this is one of the funniest plays the BHS Drama Club has put together. If capacity crowds are realized in the auditorium of BHS this weekend, the objectives of the cast and crew of Harold will be met and the profits will push the funds . for the high school's pool to a new plateau. The search for the site was recommended because horse barns built on the Orono fairgrounds are encroaching on land ýthat the municipality has been reserving for a future firehali. However, in a report to the finance and administration commnittee Monday, May 1, the town's planning depart- ment noted that the site on the fairgrounds may not be the best possible location for a fire hall. The report stated that oniy one access is possible on a secondary street when ideally a firehaîl should have two accesses. The department also noted that the site does not have good access to the downtown area of Orono. The planning and develop- ment committee suggested that the municipaiity should either require the removal of the encroachmng horse barn, obtain another site for a firehaîl or seil the owner of the adjacent property enough land to accommodate the barn.' It was estimated that it would cost $5,000 to remove and re-locate the existing horse barn which is located mainiy on property owned by the Durham C entrai Agnicul-- turai Society. The finance and administra- tion committee recommended that Newcastle Mayor Garnet Rickard, Counciliors Ted Woodyard and Jasper Holiiday and Newcastle Fire Chief Jim Hayman look for another site.
