Mrs. George Morton, Mrs. Lawrence Harris and Mrs. Robert Morton on Saturday afternoon attended the Tea at the Parkwood Estate, Oshawa, given by Mrs. Robert Sheffield, Oshawa in honor of her future daughter-in-law, Miss Carolina Shifton of Alliston. Mrs. Carlos Tamblyn has been a patient in the Memoril Hospital, Bowmanville for the past week. MCongratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Virtie Wilson who celebrated their 5oth wedding anniversary on Saturday evening in the I.O.O.F. Hal, Orono. Mrs. Perey Hayward of Bowmanville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Raye West and family. Congratulations to Douglas Rutherford who graduated in Funeral Services from Humber College, Toronto, on Saturday, June l7th. H1e is employed with the Jerrett's Funeral Chapel's, Toronto. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rutherford, Orono, Mr. and Mrs. Don Montgomery and Lorrie of Lakefield attended the graduation ceremony, dinner and dance. Mr. Charles V. Cooper of Orono (in his 88th year) passed away suddenly on June l5th at the Strathaven Nursing Home, Bowmanville. The funeral service was at il a.m. Saturday morning from the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville by the Rev. David A. Spivey, B.D. Interment Orono Cemetery. Mr. Sidney Lockhart of Port Hope and Mrs. Geo. Morton were Sunday evening dinner Build Own Road, ClubT'old Council has concurred with the recommendation of the public works committee that if the Union Rod and Gun Club wants access to its facîlities- on a better road than the one it's using now, it will have to build it. In accordance with town policy, the committee informed the club that' it cannot build the club a road, however, if the club builds the road to the specifications and design criteria of the town, the municipality will maintain it. The club is concerned that since the road is unmaintained and the fire department cannot negotiate it, its in- surance rates are going to skyrocket.
