While there, she enjoyed attending granddaughter Diane's graduation exercises from High School and also a trip to Unity, Saskatchewan, where grandsons John and Doug are working. Mrs. Fred Brooks was a visitor with Mrs. Leone Lane on Tuesday afternoon and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lane of Port Hope were Friday evening visitors with Mrs. Lane. On Thursday evening, the bus load of forty-one went to Toronto to attend thei Billy Graham Crusade. Included were passengers from Kendal, Shiloh, and Newcastle as well as those from Newtonville. Mrs. Queenie Fletcher with Mrs. Madelmne Buckiey and Mrs. Louise Jose of Newcastle attended the three days' convention of the Ontario Horticultural Society held at Queen's University in Kingston, last week. Callers with Mrs. Agnes Burley last week were Mrs. Stan Brooking of Tory Hill and hier sister, Mrs. E.. Bunn of Keswick. Newtonville U.C.W. met in the, Sunday School Hall on Wednesday, June 14, followifig a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m. which was attended by eighteen members. President Carole Gardner, li opening, asked each one pregent to namne a different summer flower, so there was quite a variety. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary Jean Kimbaîl, and adopted. Jim Adams is beîng asked to look after putting in the extra storage shelves. The Sunshine Conqiîuee reported having remembered a new baby, here, also a card of sympathy to a recently bereaved family. The new carpeting has been finished, since the hast meeting and members of the Committee were commended for their assistance with this job, over-seeing, etc. A motion was passed to purchase a new vacuum cleaner, a "Wet-Dry type" so that the water as welh as the dust may be taken up. Acey Farrow agreed to arrange a demonstration at which our caretaker, Dora DeSmit, will be present. Olive Henderson asked for vohunteers to help pick straw- bernies, next Friday for the coming Wedding at Newcasthe on June 24th at, which our U.C.W. have been asked to cater for 150 guests. Arrangements have been made for ecooking of the roast beef, gravy, carving, etc. A motion was passed to increase the price for similar affairs, in the future. The Masons have requested a supply of sandwiches for a midnight lunch, folowing their banquet, October 21, and after a disc 'ussion regarding prices, etc. volunteers were named, to assist with this and other duties. Unit Leader Mary Jones presented the program and Devotional, assisted by Phyhhis Peck,,Iva Farrow and Jean Kimbaîl, the topic being "Faith", and the hymns "Faith 0f Our Fathers" and "My Faith Looks Up To Thee. " The Benediction closed the meeting. The one having the nearest birthday, was Acey Farrow, who received a gift, in recognition. This was the hast of our meeting for the summer - they will resume in September. Sandra Mclnnes and Doris Chrysherwere the greeters at our church door Sunday morning, and the baskets of Iovehy flowers, at the altar were from the funeral of the late Mr. Chas.
