Emma Bragg pitched a nice game for the Coaldusters. Dorothy Kilpatrick was top' hitter with four hits and a home run. Nancy Hagerman, D. Hockin, Hilda Brock, B. Franks erupted for six runs in the second inning. Bill Cochrane tossed perfect baîl for three inins and fannedsix for his eihbwin in ten decisions. The loss dropped MacjDonald Ford into fourth place, five points ahead of D&R Sports and they have a game in hand' on Kramps Who are two points abead. D&R Sports 5, Kramps Furniture 5 Kramps exploded for four first inning runs and D&R tied the game in the top of the second and then the two teams battled to a 1-1 stand-off for the rest of the game. Kramps collected five consecutive base hits for their first four runs and D&R pickel up their four on four hits highlighted by Bob Finley's three run Homer. The Sportsmen went ahead 5-4 in the fourth and Kramps tied the game in the last of the seventh on a two out double by Len Kenny and Ken Ferris' single. John Murray, Doug McFeeters and Bob Finley had two hits eacb for D&R Sports wbile Kenny and Ferris each had three for Kramps. Joe Caruana added a pair of safeties. Bob Finley and Dennis Bickell tossed fine baIl with seven and five strike outs respectively. Shorts Terry Baker of Mariners leads in the battling parade with a .600 average and also leads the pitchers with a sparkling 0.88 ERA. Bill Cochrane of Franks follow Baker with a 1.20 ERA and an 8-2 won lost record. Dave Passant of the Mariners leads the league with 16 bits. Franks Variety lead in teami battling with a .354 average and in team pitching with a 1.22 ERpA seaon, only to suffer a huiiting defeat at the hands of the Ajax bahl club. The game was very close for -the first six innings with the score being tied 1-1. Both teams played excellent base- baIl, showing good offense and defensive efforts. Tt was in the bottom of the sixth inni:ng, with bases loaded that a fieldinig error proved costly as Ajax scored 3 runs on a fly bail to right field. Ajax scored another run before the Merchants closed the inning off. After this disastrous inning, the Merchants couldn't get a sustained drive going as Ajax added two more runs in the eighth inning to win the game 7-1. Lack of hustie and concentration in the latter stage of the game contributed greatly to their downfall. One bright spot on the team was the pitching of Barney Holmes in his first start of the 'season, although errors prohibited his first win.
