Winners of Recent Golf Tournament at BCC The Oshawa-Durham Chapter of the A praisal Institute of Canada had a golf tournament and dinner at Bowmanville Country Club on June 22nd, Bob Alexander won the trophy for Low Gross, Bill Hooper won Low Net and Marguerite Elliott was presented with the W. H. Clipperton and Assoicates trophy or "The Most Honest Player". Commencing at 10:45 a.m. aupils, teachers, parents and friends gathered on the north lawn of Grandview. Awards were presented to many pupils taking part in activities at the school, e.g. stamp club, choirs, drama, gymnastics, chess, public speaking, debating, library assistants, bus patrol, leadership, student council, sports, physical fitness, Anollo House received the Track and Field Trophy as well as the House Cup for acquiring the most points over the year. Our Bantams are flying high with just one loss so far this season. During the past week they defeated Bethany and Cavan. The Junior Girls won their game against Millbrook on Tuesday evening. The Junior Ladies played two good games this week defeating Bethany and Nestleton by narrow scores. The Senior Ladies lost their Monday evening's game to Nestleton by 3-1. Robert Waldie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ian Waldie of R.R. 1, Pontypool, recently graduated in Mining Technology from the Haileybury School of Mines. He is currently employed at the Adams Mine near Kirkland Lake. Hydro Orders Machinery for Darlington Contracts worth $85 million have been awarded by Ontario Hydro for the construction of heavy duty equipment to be installed at the Darlington Generating Station. Jim Dunn, a spokesman for Ontario Hydro, said last week that the largest order is worth $38 million dollars and it covers the building of 16 steam generators. . Babcock and Wilcox Canada Ltd., of Cambridge, Ontario will be building the steam generators over the next seven vears. The machines weigh about 400 tons each and they are used for boiling water to create the steam which drives turbines. A second order for four nuclear reactor vessels totals $35 million. The contract was split between two Montreal companies, Canadian Vickers Ltd. and Dominion Bridge Company Limted. The reactor vessels or calandrias weigh about 800 tons each and they will be moved to the Darlington site by barge. The delivery of the first calandria to the Darlington site has been scheduled for 1981. Provincial Court July 4, 1978 Judge R.B. Baxter, Acting Crown Attorney Mr. G.S. He was observed northbound on Division, turn right on to Wellington then on to George St. left on to King East and stopped out near the cemetery. He has an extensive record. Keith Wilson Knapp, 51, R.R. 6, Perth, pleaded 'guilty' to a charge laid May 6, 'did drive after consuming over .08.' Const. Wood had occasion to arrest him for impaired driving. He was eastbound at King St., Bowmanville driving in the westbound lane. Tests were .20. He was sentenced to 14 days in jail to be served on weekends in Brampton Jail as he is working in that area, followed by probation for 3 months. He is to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and present himself at the jail in a sober condition. License suspension will be for 6 months.
