On Monday we ail puddled around in bigtubs of water to escape the heat. We water painted the sehool, the sidewalk and of course - each other. Yuck! Last Tuesday we had Trevor and Gari Oke's, dad for a special visitor. Mr. Oke is a fireman of the Whitby Fire Department. Mr. Oke talked to us about bis job, safety rules and ho even modelled bis uniform. The kids were fascinated with bis big rubber boots, bis heavy jacket and = 11caly fascinated with his hemtand silver gloves. Jason Davies was so impressed he asked Mr. Oke what he ate for breakfast. I guess Jason wants to grow up to be a fireman. We watched a real neat film cailed Home Safe Home and then Mr. Oke handed out safety colouring books and stickers for phones. A very sincero tbank you to Mr. Oke for taking the time to visit us. To to p off the morning we devouredi a watermelon given to us by Mary Lou Malcolm Thanks Lou! In the afternoon we went to, see the Puppet Show "Binkley and Doinkel. " The kids loved them and learned some warning symbols too. Ask tbem if they can remember tham ail (Fiammable, Explosive, Corrosive, Poisonous). Wednesday was our Farm Day at JilI Van Camps. It was a long and exbausting walk but, it was well worth the effort. The 'cbîldren were entertained with pony rides (thanks to dear old gypsy) an apple orchard to climb in, baby pigeons, pigs, cows, calves, a dog and eight baby kittens (Jili is willingto give away some kittons to a good home). Our country.kids sure acted like city kids when it came time to tour the barn. The littie 'Fdears" ail plugged their noses. A thank you ta ail the Van Camps for a great day. Also a thank you to Caroline Carnaghan and Tara Bailey for coming witb us and helping. Tbursday morning we watched films and in the afternoon we went for a rofreshing dip in Tamara's pool. A special thank you ta Tamara and ber parents for inviting us and also a tbank you to the neigbbours wbo belped us swim. The cookies and freshie were yummy to-ol. Elizabethville Our outdoor service was beld at 'Mr. and Mrs. W. Bannister's home on Sunday. We bad a good crowd even tbougb it was a littie cooler than usual. Mrs. Mary Kellogb conducted the service. Mr. G. Wood and Mrs. R. Smith sang witb Mrs. M. Cruse playing the organ. Mrs. H. Marsb was our guest speaker and she brougbt a message about the different roads, the road to Damasca, the road to Jerecko, etc. an interesting talk. Mr. Marsh assisted at the end of the services. Coffee and fancy breads were served. Next Sunday services will be at Mr. and Mrs. Mark Gardiner's witb Rev. Kennedy speaking. Sympathies are extended to friends and relatives of the late Alvin Trew who passed away on Friday. Funeral services were held at Ross's Funeral Home on Sunday and interment at Millbrook. The friends met at Mrs. Trew's after the funerai. Another funeral service, of the late Mrs. Kathleen Brimacombe was beld on Saturday at Port Hope. She used to visit in the Osaca area and was known by several in CLASS "A" mechanic, for busy workshop, good condi- tions, top rates o f pay. SThis week toc, is action packed. We bad Tin Can Derby Day, King and Queen Day and tomorrow (Tbursday) will be Monster Day and Talent Night) (wbat a combinationl) and Friday will be Hobo Day.
