12 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, August 16,1978 Thechldren's summer pro- grarn, now in its final week, has turned out to be a huge success. More than fifty children were registered. Throughout the program, the chlîdren enjoyed such things as painting, weaving, soap carving, basebaîl, soc- cer, relay races, etc. Mr. D'Arcy Proctor, a well-known artist in this area, visited with the children on two occasion. He showed some of lits paintings and kept the interest of the ebjîdren witli his stories. A group from the Peter- boroughi Energy Conservation Area entertained many mothers and clildren of the village with a puppet show. A bake sale was held on the same day and this was also a great success. Many thanks go to the mothers and anyone who contributed to the wide assortment of baked goods. SAlso, we would like to thank anyone who was involved in the program in anyway and helped to make it sucli a success. Leaders: Cathy Hy- land, Bey Mulligan, Connie MacPherson. "Thanks to the initiative of the Pontypool Park Board my chld, as well, as many others from this area is enjoying the recreational summer pro- gram. The children have painted with their feet, carved things out of soap, have had special dress-up days and generally have liad lots of fun. They even had a puppet show.
