A pupil of the famed composer-violist Oedoen Partos, Rivka's stellar career began when she was one of few to obtain the advanced solo performance degree from Tel Aviv's Academy of Music. During her years as student, Rivka was chosen (for 3 consecutive years) to represent Israel at an interna- tional music course in Queekhoven, Holland. This is an unparalleled triple honour from the Academy and of al those who studied in Holland, Rivka was selected to give solo concerts with' the Holland Festival, appearing in Israel and Germany as well as in Holland. Upon graduation, she was awarded first prize in viola competition. Rivka was a member of the Israeli Philharmonic for five years as well as a featured soloist with other major orchestras including the Jerusalem Orchestra, the Haif a Symphony and the Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Holon Chamber Orchestra. She wili perform Scnubert's Arpeggione Sonata, with special arrangements for violo solo and orchestra. The programn will include Von Weber's Overture Der Freischutz. and Brahm's Symphony No. 1. There are a total of 4 concerts in the Premier Series, with guest artists including the internationally famous pianist Anton Kuerti. The ever popular sound of the Pops commences on Sunday, November' 12 with Moe- Koffman. A special tribute to Gershwin and a night for Gilbert and Sullivan loyers only, featui-ing the Oshawa Choral Society, round out the three concert Pops series. Police Charge BPus Driver A school bus driver was charged last week following a collision on Highway 57 between a bus and a southbound car. Durham Regional Police said the school bus was eastbound on Concession nine when the accident occurred. The bus was being operated by Charterways for the North- umberland and Newcastle Board of Education. Two persons were injured in the mishap which occurred at approximately eight o'clock last Wednesday morning. Brian A. Lenaerts, 21, of Blackstock, was treated for cuts and released from hospital following the accident. His passenger in the car, Elaine Lenaerts, 21, also of Blackstock, was listed in satisfactory condition in the Bowmanville Memorial Hospital with head injuries. Sixty - four - year - old Clarence Avery of Blackstock, has been charged with failing to yield the right of way. There were no children on the bus at the time of the accident.
