Vogel's, Russell's, and Schryburt's enjoyed a 'late night fondue' at Rollo's home on Saturday evening. Although there was no fish for the fondue, Kevin told of catching a thirty-seven inch, fifteen pound, lunge at Stoney Lake on Friday. Heather Dorrell was honoured at a lovely bridal shower on Sunday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Fred Griffin near Enfield, Mrs. Jim McLaughlin helped plan the successful event. Mrs. Sandy Moore and Mrs. Gerald Kelly attended the Annual Agricultural Society meeting of District 4 in Lindsay on Thursday. The area O.N.O. club honoured the husbands on Saturday evening at the Nestleton Hall. The Annual Husbands' Night Out was a great success thanks to Ellen Russell and the present execu- tive in cooperation with several other enthusiastic members. Dinner was served to 77 people, catered by Doro- thy Lee and daughter-in-law, Marg. The husbands' meals were paid by the ONO. fund and they were provided with boutonnieres, roses on the tables and a party punch. Before the meal everyone gathered narnes for the name bingo game. After dinner, Donna Kyte was fashion coordinator for a. play on words' fashion show. Joan Graham as the toast of the town, was adorned in real toast, margarine tub hat, and a toaster slung over her shoulder. The bride of the show pulled a toy choo choo train behind her. Several past members still living in Ward 4 attended the event and enjoy- ed the circle game, moving right one chair for no and left one chair for yes, in answer to silly questions; at one time as rnany as 10 people were on one chair. The evening closed with a dance, music by Ross Jackman. There will be no Sunday School at the United Church on Sunday, but plan to attend the special Church Anniversary Service as a family. The Rev. Dr. Clarke MacDonald, Asso- ciate Secretary, Division of Mission, Toronto will be the guest speaker. A social hour will follow the service; soup, cookies and beverages will be provided; please bring sand- wiches for your own family. Remembrance Day Service will be held Saturday, November 11, at 11:30 at the Blackstock Recreation Centre., U.C.W. Meeting The Evening Unit of the United Church Women were guests at the home of Ruby Parsons for the Novem ber meeting on Wednesday. Joanne Lee brought the meet- ing to order by reading a poeM. November 23, Esther Unit of Port Perry has invited the Blackstock members to attend their meeting to hear Susan Cochrane of the Depart- ment of Consumer and Corporate affairs talk on consumer interest near Christmas. November 29th the U.C.W. will hold a general meeting in the Christian Education Room of the United Church at 9:30 a.m.; Evening Unit will be in ,charge of the program. The program for the'even- ing was provided by Beth Schryhurt showing slides of their recent trip to Florida and several articles found on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Everyone enjoyed the fancy desserts and coffee or tea, graciously served by Ruby before heading home. Members are to bring a sharp pair of scissors and a picture of their choice. score when you are a RED CROSS Blood Donor The Durham-Northumberland Liberal party held a rally luncheon on Friday at Port Darlington Marina Hotel with the Hon. Hugh Faulkner, Indian and Northern Affairs minister from Peterborough as the special guest. Also present was Dr. Ian Wilson, the federal candidate, from Cobourg. The lun- cheon was organized by Molly Kent and Marlene Jarvia with close to 40 present from ail over the constituency. Prior to the luncheon, Mr. Faulkner held a press conference informing the media that he was visiting the area to learn what the political climate was and if there were any local problems of a pressing nature. Later, he visited Bowmanville High School where he spoke to the Canadian Polities class and Grade 13 students. He is pictured here at right with Dr. Wilson. On the 2lst of October the Junior and Intermediate classes of the Blackstock United Church Sunday Sehool, displayed a tremendous effort, to assist the Storm Window Glazing Fund by holding a, "Walk-a-Thon" in which they raised over four hundred dollars. Stan Found of Oshawa recently judged the 28 fields entered in the Grain Corn Field Competition sponsored by the Blackstock Agricul- tural Society. Winners of the competition wvere: lst - Jim Byers, receiving a Trophy and bag of seed corn donated by Jack Green. 2nd - tie - Jim Swaini, and Richard Van Camp, 4th - John Bonsma, 5th - tie - Merrill Van Camp, Robert DeJong and Brian Grey, 8th - Roy McLaughlin, 9th - tie - Lawrence McLaughlin, Ben De Jong, and Ted Kemp, 12 - tie - John Wolters, Don Frew and Sons and Ray ,Suggitt and last but not least, lSth - Harvey Graham. Muriel Hoskin and Lisa Kristensen are teaching a free Introduction to Basic Needle- point as taught to them by a Home Economist in Bowman- ville through the Womens' Institute. The Blackstock course will] run for three afternoons: November 7, 9, and 15, at the United Church starting at 1: 00. On Mlonday evening Cart- wright "A" pack enjoyed a Hallowe'en party at the Recreational Centre complete with a Haunted House and several fun games under the direction of Andrea, Janet, and Jim Wier, Kerry, Umphrey, Allan Argue, and Shirley Tilling. Several of the boys became girls for the night but John Tilling picked up the prize as 'Spaceman'. In order to keep the school teams on their toes, from time to time, the staff of Cartwright Ce'h'tral Public School chal- lenge them to a gamne, or vice versa. Wednesday at noon the staff (which included 'Rdcket Rollo') played the Senior Grl' s Volleyball Team, with, eachteam w*inning one game.
