GORUDON GRANT STRONG EItMA GERTRUDE STRONG A lifçtime resident of Cart- wright passed away peace- fully at Community Nursing Home, Port Perry, Wednes- day, October 25th, 1978, in his 75th year. His wife Erma predeceased him on Thurs- day, April 27th, 1977, following a long illness througb which ber st rong Christian faith sustained lber. Mr. Strong was born at Purple Hill 1904 the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Strong. A'respected farmner, he farmed at Purpie Hill and later at Smith Woods until bis retiremrent to his new home in lackstock eight years ago. Mr. Strong received bis edu- cation at Purpie Hill School and was a mnember of Black- stock United Church and a longtime trustee of Purple Hill School. Mrs. Strong was born at Cadmnus in 1910, the daughter of the laie Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bruce. She was ed- ucatedi in Cartwright schools and later received bier A.T.C.M. She was a member of Blacksiock United Cburcb having served as organist for 26 years. In 1973 she was awarded life membership in the U.C.W. Mr. and Mrs. Strong were mnarried June 3, 1933. Surving are three children Phyllis (Mrs. Eric Barr) of Buxton, Robert of Blackstock, Beih (Mrs. Gerald Ferguson) of Ottawa and seven grand- cbidldren. A son Ralpb pre- deceased thenai n 1965. Born Jan. 7, 1915, in Riezepeoiz, Poland, he was a soni of the laie Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Zarucki. A resident of Oshawa for six years, he was a memnber of St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church.
