With extra company for meals during the holiday season we wondered if you'd like to try the following recipe for cod and sausage paella. 1 lb. frozen North Atlantic cod fillets 14 cup chopped celery 14 cup chopped onion 14 cup chopped green pepper 14 cup butter 8 ounces smoked sausage 171/2 oz. package Spanish rice mix 1 16 oz. can tomnatoes, eut in large pieces 1 teaspoon garlic sait Let cod stand at room temperature about 15 min- utes. Cut into 2-inch chunks. In large skillet, saute celery, onion, green pepper and sausage in butter. Remove sausage from pan. Add rice. Cook until lightly brown. Add 1 cup boiling water and tomato pieces and its liquid, the seasoning packet and garlic sait. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Add fish and saus- age, and cook 12 to 15 minutes more or until fish becomes opaque. 4 to 6 servings. Tizzard, accompanied by Mr. Leonard Falls and Mr. Jim Adams, atteuded a gathering in St. Stephen's Unitedi Church, Oshawa, sponsored by the "Men's Club," to welcome the two visiting ministers from Korea, namnely Rev.' Haa Doug Kim, and Rev. Bying Sun Sou. The Guest Speaker was Mr. Alec Ferries, and all enjoyed the occasion. At Newtonville United Church on Monday evening, Nov. 27, about thirty Kendal, Shiloh, andi Newtonville people enjoyed a pot-luck supper, in the church hall,, where the above mentioneci Korean Ministers were our guests. During the afternoon, Ewart Robinson, Leonard Falls, and Jim Adams haci taken turns in escorting Rev. Kim and Rev. Sou, to see various points and places of interest in our area. They were quite impressed with the Beef Operation farm of Mr. Bey. Gray; the Dairy Farm- ing at Mr. Gordon Wilson's; the, new Hydro Plant at Wesleyville; and the Ski Hill, at Kendal. Following the supper, several more people came, to join in a Sing-Song, of Christmas and favorite hymus. Mr. A. Ferries, of, Oshawa, showed pictures of Korea, and Rev. Kim gave the commentary, and answered quest ions. More singing fol- lowed, after which Rev. Sou, pronounced the Benediction, thus briuging to a close, a very enjoyable evening. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Jones entertained the Gideons at their home, on Monday even- iug, Nov. 20, when about twelve were in attendance. Sorry to hear of the death of Bruce Campbell, in London, Englanci. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Campbell were well known, musically, in this area, many years ago, and daughter, Jean, (Mrs. Bickle) is now the ouly one left, of that family. Sympathy is expressed to Mr. and Mrs. Ken Clark, and family, whose home and contents were destroyed by fire, Ilast Saturday. Various people are planning to help collect useful items, funds, etc., to be of assistance to the Clarks, and one of these is to be a Benefit Dance, to be held inl our Community Hall, on Saturday night, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. Ladies are requested to bring lunch, and the proceeds will go to the Clark family. Mr. and Mrs. Melville Jones spent the. past weekend visiting friends. in Gananoque. Newtonville Women's Insti- tute will meet- on Tues., Dec.ý 12, at the home of Mrs. Iva Farrow, at 2 p.m. There will be an exchange of gifts. The Greeters at our church door, Sunday morning for the "Young People's Service," were Marvin Stapleton and Michael Tizzard. Lovely flowers were at the front of the church, an attractive Christ- mas tree, and other decora- tions in keeping with the season, at the windows, etc., were admired by the gooci- sized congregation, present, in spit of the inclement weather. "Chimes and Organ Prelude" preceded the Caîl to Worship - by Mary Milîson and Carolyn Stapleton. AIl joined in singing "Hioly, Holy, Holy", after which cause the Invoca- tion Prayer, by Charlene Zeitsma, and Tammy Inues. All joined in singiug "The Lord's Prayer", and the Hymn "Go Tell Lt On the Moun tain." The Responsive Reading was- led by Sherry Stapleton, followed by follow- ed by "The Gloria", after this, came an anthemn by the Seniors, "Father I Adore Thee." The Lightiug of Advent Caudle No. 1, was next, by John Chrysier, and Warren Stapleton, with Mrs. Marlene Stacey reading the introduc- tion. "The Children's Story," was ready by Shelley Tomp- kins, and Tammy Weatherup, after which the Hymn, "Jesus Came," was sung by the younger chilciren. Announcemnents were read by Robert Tompkins, and ahl joined in singing the Hymn, "Pass It On." The theme of the Sermon was, "Christmas Means Happiness," and thîs was composed, and given by Kim Gilmer, in a very impressive manner, leaving us all with food for thougzht. The final Hymn,' "What Child Is This," was sung, after which Rev. Tizzard came forward to pronounce the Benediction. He invited ahl present to join in a hearty hand-clap, as an expression of appreciation for this splendid service by all these young people. We are sure it will be long remember- ed! Our U.C.W. wîll meet in the church hall on Wed., Dec. 13, with a pot-luck supper, start- iîng at 6:30 p.m. Members are requested to bring a donation toward the Clark family, as well as a gift exchange for unit members, not to exceed one dollar. Mrs. Iva Farrow and Mr. Reg. Falls were among the dinner guests, of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Finney, at the !'Coach and Four", Friday evening.
