Congratulations to Helen Brown and Gene Erickson on their recent engagement. On Wednesday Helen received a beautiful solitaire and since then has been floating on Cloud Nine. David, Deana, Andrew,' Kathleen and John Smales left for Tennessee last Tuesday morning. Kathleen was a member of a cousin's wedding party on the weekend. Tbey are expected back later this week. Eight tables of euchre were played in Ballyduff on Friday night. Winners were Anita Brown, Ina Palmer, Mabel Preston, Norman Brown, Ken McKenzie, Wilfred Beggs and Lloyd Fallis. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Forrest spent the past weekend with friends in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Johnston and family visited with rela- tives in Gananoque over the weekend. Get well wishes are extend- ed to Robert Read who is a patient in Civic Hospital, Peterborough. High bowlers in the Ladies Bowling League on Monday were Beulah Robinson 192 and Sharon Bailey 189. High doubles were Beulah witb 341 and Hilda Bigelow witb 338. On Friday nigbt in the Manvers Mens Hockey League Yelverton defeated Pontypool 2 to 1 and Peter- borough over Janetville 8 to 3. This Friday night ît's Ponty- pool and Peterborough at 8 p.m. with Janetville versus Yelverton at 9:30. Elizalbethville Churcb services were held as usual. Rev. W. Kennedy was with us. Mrs. Carof sang a solo. Next Sunday, Rev. Kennedy will be with us again. t will be white gif t service at 9:15, both Sunday Schools, Elizabeth- ville and Garden Hill partici- pating. Elizabethville Sunday Scbool will have a pot luck supper and Christmas tree in the evening of the Ith. On Thursday the Campbell- croft Senior Citizens gathered of working at Mr. and Mrs. M. Gardiner's home, played games and planned a turkey dinner for the 7th. About 15 attended. Mr. and Mrs. H. Quantrili had Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Scott and Mr. and Mrs. E. Robinson for tea on Sunday night. Sorry to hear that Mr. and Mrs. Ken Clark's house on the Newtonville Road wasý burned on Saturday at noon., Most people spent the stormy Sunday at home. Mr. and Mrs. O. Mercer had Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Mercer on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. Fowler had Mr. and Mrs. H. Newson, Oshawa; Mr. and Mrs. C. Yarrow;- Mr. and Mrs. R. Russell, Belleville for a Christmas dinner on Sunday. Miss Diane Beatty, Toronto was home Thursday and Friday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. H. Quantrili attended the Warden's Banquet held in Cobourg on Wednesday evening. Our corner store opened on Sunday. They have a real nice store witb good grocery selec- tion, Christmas gifts, cards, etc. on display. Not as many were out tosbop as expected due to the bad weather. They plan a special opening sale in January., Callers at Mr. and 'Mrs. C. Beatty this past week were Mrs. B. Wheeler, Mrs. J. Yaremo and Bethanne, and Mrs. H. Muldrew. Mr. Ross Scott and Mr. Ross Muldrew called on Mr. and Mrs. H. Muldrew on Sunday. Mrs. Geo. Palmerý was in hospital last week baving an operation on her feet, she is home again.
