The Bowmanville Minor Pee Wees, sponsored by Howard Wood Transport, suffered ,their first defeat of the season on Sunday night in Markham. The score was 3 - 2 in favor of the Markham squad in a well-played O.M.H.A. League gamne. On Saturday night in Memorial Arena in Bowman- ville, the Toros defeated the Red Wings from the Oshawa L.N.H.L. in a somewhat chippy exhibition game. The score was 6 - 1 for Bowman- ville. On Saturday night, the Toros were led by, Jon Clieff who picked up four points, and only 35 seconds had elapsed in the contest when he assisted on a goal by Jeff Dawson. At the 7:40 mark of the same period, Daw'son scored his second goal on a very sharp play, again the assist going to Clieff. Oshawa scored their lone goal of the gamne at the 7:40 mark. The "Transporters" got.that goal back when Jon Clieff scored on a nice passing play, engineered by his line- mates Greg Watson and Dawson. Dawson completed his "hat trick" performance scoring on a play, assisted by Clief f. Greg Watson scored the fifth Toro goal at the :37 mark of the final- stanza, assisted by defenceman Pierre St. Amand. Lorne Whitmarsh scored the final goal of the game, the assist going to his right winger Brad Cruess. Chris Clifton was in goal for Bowmanville and made several key stops to pick up the win. On Sunday evening, the H. L. Wood Minor Pee Wees hattled some nasty weather to travel to Markham for an O.M.H.A. League game and came home on the short end of a 3 - 2 score. Markham got on the score sheet at the 5: 11 mark of the opening period on a slick passing play. They increased their lead to 2 - 0 when Rob Storey again scored on a nice play. This goal came at the 1:14 mark of the middle reriod. Bowmanville's Jeff Dawsoýn got one back when he scored, assisted by Jon Clieff. Dawson again scored for Bowmanville to tie the score. The assist on this goal came from his linemates Chris Dreossi and Jon Clieff. Markhamn scored the game winner at the'3:38 mark of the final period.* The Toros pulled their goaltender but were unable to Pick up the equalizer as the Markham' squad, checked tenaciously, handing the l3owmanville squad their first loss of the season. Alan Ulrich was in goal for the Toros and was called upon to make several difficuit stops. Bow- manville went into this game without the services of centre- man Greg Watson and defenceman Scott Barclay. Their presence would have made a big difference as the local lads were extremely tired.
