There were several guests including the District President Mrs. Vemna Bryant from Hampton. There was an exchange of gifts followed by a short program. Readings were given by Mrs. Janet Dykeman, Mrs. Mary Low and Mrs. Leonora Staple- ton. Mms. Grace Mandors brought the poinsettias which were distiibuted to the sick, and shut-ins. Several end of the year donations were made to community causes. The W.I. cook books wore on hand, each momber was asked to tako about ten to soul. The January meeting is to be at the home of Mrs. Diane Wybenga. It beig a stormy evenig the meeting was brougbt to a close to let the ladies get home before the roads were bad. Tbey recalled what these. mon were probably thinking after the resurrec- tion. The flowers in the cburcb were placed there in memory' of the late Mr. Harvey Holman. Ushers were Messers Russell Baker, John Connelly, George Tufford, and Clarence Nichols. The choir remaîned after the service to practice for the cantata to bo presented on Christmas Eve at Welcome. A new furnace bas been installed in the church. When the old one was being cleaned it was found to be dangerous, replacement needed at once. The olde one had done good service; it was installed some Urne between 1947 and 1953. One of those wbose work is ilustrated and described is F.W. Cumber- land, great grandfather of John Cumberland of Port Hope. In this day of commercial Christmas it is heart warming to see instances of gratitude. Two people wbo had car trouble on 401 one day last fal were shown some heëlpfulness by a local resident. Last Saturday they drove down from Toronto to bring a Christmas gift and express appreciation.
