'1 Delta Faucet Midgets Win Ux bridge Consolation During the holidays last week, the Delta Faucet Midget 2s journeyed to Uxbridge for a hockey tour- nament and came home with the award from winning the Consolation series. Flying' Dutchman Major Bantams Win Silver Stick Consolation TRiti Flying Dutchman Motor Inn Major Bantams travelled to Bramalea to play in the South Central Region Silver Stick Tournament with the first game being played in Victoria Park Arena on Wed., Dec. 27th against Saltfleet. Saltfleet scored the only goal of the first period. Toros opened the, scoring in the second on a bard low drive from the point by Rick Erwin after being set up by Barry Cullen. Saltfleet went abead again on a goal by Jim Reid. Witb 4 minutes left in the period Barry Cullen scored assisted by Darcy Cummings and Bill Hogarth. Between the 4 minute mark and the 2 minute mark our Toros had scored 4 goals to take control of this game. Toros next goal was unassisted by Scott Hil- lier. Darcy Cummings scored assisted by Barry Cullen and Bill Hogarth. Brian Ruddy got Toros next goal after taking a good pass from Chris Dyck. In the third each team scored with Barry Cullen scoring to pick up bis 4th point in this game, assisted by Ed. Osborne and Darcy Cumm- ings. Playing well in- Toros' net was Mark Lee. Dutchman 3, Orangevilie 1 Flying Dutchman Motor Inn met Orangeville in the after- noon of Dec. 27th in the same arena as they bad played in tbe morning. This was a very close cbecking game and a goaltender's battle between Dan Latendra and Toros' Mark Lee as at the end of two periods there wasn't any score. Bill Hogarth scored, deflect- ing a shot from Rick Erwin on Toros' point. Orangeville's Daryl Bailly tied the score 2 minutes later. Chris Dyck scored the winning goal with assists to Steve Cary and John Klompmaker. Barry Cullen scored an insurance goal with assists to John Klompmaker and Brian Ruddy. Tborold 2, Dutchman 1 On Fni., Dec. 29, Toros had one of their best team efforts against a strong Thorold club. Without any luck around the Tborold net, our boys bit goalposts, crossbars and mis- sed open nets. Both goalies, Leo Cunningham of Tborold and Paul Adams of Bowman- ville played just superbly throughout this game. Toros goal came at 1: 49 of the third on a good passing play fromn Bill Hogarth back to Rick Erwin who crossed tbe puck to Rob Kennett, who let a bard slap shot right along the ice and passed a screened Tbor- old netminder. Thorold's goal came from a faceoff in Toros end witb 2:14 left in regulation time. This put the game into sudden death overtime and witb only 6 seconds gone Thorold's Joe Sweet scored to make it 2-1 and give Thorold tbe oportunity to play.Mark- bam in the championsbip final and Toros against Glanbrook for the Consolation Champion- ships. Dutchman 5, Glanbrook 2 Darcy Cummnings scored the only goal of the lst period assisted by Barry Cullen. Bill Hogarth got Toros only goal of tbe second assisted by Darcy Cummings. In the lst minute of the 3rd, Rob Kennett scored on a good slap shot fromn the point with assists to Rick Erwin and Barry Cullen. Our Toros eased up on their cbecking and Glanbrook came back with 2 goals to make the score 3-2. Witb 7:09 left in the gamne Bill rhe Canadian Statesman. Bowmai Hogarth in bis tamiliar spot in front of our opponents' net deflected a shot from Rick Erwin with the other assist to Rob Kennett. Toros Barry Cullen added another insur- ance goal assisted by Rob, Kennett and John Klompmak- er. This win gave Flying Dutch- man Motor Inn boys the Consolation Championship of the Regionai Silver Stick. The win advanced Delta Faucet to the Consolation Final. Bracebridge was tbe opposi- tion for Bowmanville in the final game of the tournament, and the Delta Faucet team rose to the occasion beating them 6 - 3.
