Background Two surveys were organized and carried out by students of Urban Geography, Bowmanville High Sohool. One of the surveys, a street' survey, was done at selected locations within Bowmanville on December 9, 1978. Between December 15 and 19, 1978 a neighbour- hood survey was conducted. Each survey was carefully'conducted according to a set of specifie instructions.
