Jim Rickard is attending the Ontario Vegetablle Marketing Board meetings, this month in London. Jim is a director fromn this district, and is actîvely participating in the ongoing marketing negotiations for the coming year. 'Congratulations to Richard Elliott, son of Charlie and Isabelle Elliott, who last week won a Ski Trip complete with a week of lessons at Mont Orford in Quebec. This excur- sion is part of the prizes offered in the monthly draw at D and R Sports. Holiday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Austin Wood includ- ed hier nieces, Shirley Macklin, Owen Sound and Jean Garrow of Waterhen, Manitoba. Fritz and Betti Marti, Wally and Ernie spent three weeks recently in Lakeland, Florida. While there they attended the wedding of Betti's cousin at Clearwater. Incidentally, Wally enjoyed his nineteenth birthday on Christmas Day, in Florida and is staying on there with his father for a while. ~We are pleased to report that Lewis Wood. is home again and doing well after his recent surgery in, Oshawa General Hospital. Obituairies Harold (Hap) Gordon Gi Following a lengthy illness, Harold (Hap) Gordon Guli, aged 72, pasged away in Memorial Hospital, Bowman- ville, on Thursday, January llth, 1979. Born and educated in Bowmanville, hie was the son of James and Elizabeth Gill. On December lth, 1928 hie was mnrried to Beatrice E:' Brock. A resident of Bowmanville for 63 years, hie had previously resided in Burketon for nine years. "Hap" as hie was popularily known, was -employed at Goodyear Co. Ltd., for 12 years in the Bowmanville Plant, and was the owner of Shadow Wembley Summer Resort, Burnt River for 12 years. From 1940-1971 h le was a self-employed merchant, operating Gill's Store on Second Street, until hie retired eight years ago., He was a member of Trinity United Church and a member of Jerusalem Lodge No. 31. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Beatrice, a son Don, a daughter Cheryl (Mrs. Clarence Simonsen), Aberta, and his grandchildren Michelle and James. Reverend John Peters con- ducted funeral services on Saturday at the Morris Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Albert Cole presided at the organ. Many donations were made in his memory to the Ontario Heart Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society and Par- ticipation House Project Durham Region. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery.
