The "A.B.P."' enjoyed their first session at the home of Mrs. Win. Montgomery last Tuesday afternoon. The first meeting of "The Home Achievement Group'" for girls, will be held at the home of Mrs. Cheryli Vardy an Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. The topic of this is "Project - Accessories, The Final Touch" and ahl girls aged 12 ta, 36 are welcome ta attend. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Lan- caster and Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Jones were among those attending the Oyster Supper at Garden Hill Wednesday even- ing. Newtonville U.C.W. met in the church hall, Wed. evening, Jan. 24 in spite of the inclement weather and roads. Vice-president Mary Vinkie opened with the singing of "An Evening Prayer'" followed by the Lord's Prayer, i unison. Secretary Jean Kimbal gave the account of the Christmas meeting approved as read. Amelia Lancaster and Lena Clysdaie reporteid having delivered the gifts ta the Clarke famiiy who appre- ciated them very much. The poem "True Friendliness" wyas read by Mary Vinkle. Financial report was given showing a satisfactory balance and notes of thanks read from those remembered by the Sunshine Committee. A letter was read from the "Luncheon Is Served", argan- ization offering ta pravide their services at anytime but a motion was passed that this be left ta the Social Committee ta decide. Members were reminded ta bring in Christ- Getting a book ready for the printers is no small job. Ail of the 60-odd pages on the table in this photo are to be printed in Sam Dewell's Friendly Doorway, a book being published by the Solina Community Library. Looking over the pages are Marguerite Fraser (right) who wrote the text of the book in her own longhand script and Pat Best (left) who illustrated it. The stories are by Sam Dewell, a Hampton resident who has been part of the Solina community for many years. His stories are anecdotes about birds and animais based on bis own experiences. Roil Cail - "Show and Tell"~ pravided a varied and inter- esting assortment of personal treasures and sauveniers, etc. Speaker Cheryli Vardy gave us a talk on the course she had taken, "Majaring In Meat"~ stressing the importance of having the necessary calories, prateins, etc. daily essential for good health. She was given a hearty hand clap of apprec- iation. Dora DeSmit sang an enjay- able sala "Amazing Grace'~ with Violet Gilmer at the piano and ail twelve present joining in at the last, with "Praise God."~ Lunch was served, fallowing the Benediction. Mrs. Rowena Tizzard was in charge of devotions at Nel Gar and Southaven Nursing Homes Sunday afternaon. At 7 p.m. Sunday, Rev. Tizzard was the speaker at Albert St. Unted Church, Oshawa. Bible Study as usual at 7:30 p.m. in church hall, Thesday Jan. 3th. Wed at 6:30 p.m. Brownies meet in church hall. Rev. Tizzard opened with prayer after which minutes of hast year's meeting were read by Carole Gardner in the absence of Margaret Elliott. These were adapted as read on motion and thanks expressed ta Carole for her assistance. The Session Report read by Bea Jones, showed eight new members ta aur church, twelve Baptisms, eight wed- dings, seven Births, and twa Session meetings during the year adopted as read. Financial reports for church and Sunday schoai were duly audited and given in detail. Al were accepted as read and details of these will be included in the annual Reports.
