Yes, T.O.N.R-.A. laid low during the election campaign. It was feit that local groups did an excellent job in providing a forum for the candidates, so did the local weeklies and the Oshawa Times. With interest we have followèd tbe battie of promises and the statements of attri- butes, and have been amazed with the assurances of honesty and unselfisb desire to work for the good of ail. Time will tell whether or not the voters made the correct choice since good or bad decisions will affect this town for many years to come. The winners' joy of victory bas probably aiready been dimmed with the responsibili- ty and burden of office. -Sorry for the candidate who lost in bis bîd for the position of regional Chaîrman, we can say; "What a way to get beat"!1 We have taken note of "reported remarks" by Newcastle's planning Director, and also ?of the manner this bas been dealt with by Council. Taxpayers, people who pay the salaries of elected and appointed officiais, were not ail that surprised with these utterances.» One encounters sucb an attitude quite often, if not as cuiprits, then as suspect, and or as a nuisance! Bowmanville High School hockey team defeated Oshawa Collegiate Institute 3-1, bere on Thursday. The game while fast was not as dlean as it should have been, and referee Scotty Cameron was generous with the penalties. All the scoring was done in the first period with goals by Harold Slemon, George Veale, and by Slemon, Williams and Veale who ended up in the net with the puck for the third goal.
