Mrs. Toms was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Anderson Smith, (nee Emily Hall). She was born in Toronto, and in September 1926 was married to the late Howard J. Toms. Previously residing in New Hamburg, she had resided in Newcastle from 1918-1979. Since 1946 she had been a member of the Newcastle Business Community, with privately owned Toms and Sons.
