Paisley, principal Cartwright Higb .School and Mr. Williams, Principal, Port Perny High .School each gave a welcome to the students entering thein schools. It was pointed out that these, awards are spread anound by the policy that each student is allowed only one award so that pnoficiency does not always jnean the top student. Obituary BLAIR GRAHAM A pnomising young Black- stock farmer in is 2lst year, Blair Graham passed away suddenly on Monday, June 25 as the result of a car accident. Blair Howard Graham, who was bora on May 28, 1959 the eldest son of Harvey and Joan Gnaham, grew up in'Purple Hill. He receiv.ed is education Blackstock Public and 11gb Schools and Guelph Univer- sity where he graduated just tbnee weeks before bis untimely deatb. Blair was a member of Blackstock United Churcb. Blair leaves to mourn bis passing is parents, Joan and Hanvey, a sister Cheryl, brothers Mark and Robent. Also is gnandparents Mn. and Mrs. Frank Hoskin. The memoial service was conducted by Bey. Victor Pansons. Palibeaners wene close -friends- Terny Black, Theo denOuden, Paul Larmer, Mark Pehlemann, Tom Wotten and Harold Wright. Interment was at Prince Albert Cemetery. Blair's High School principal and a classmate wrote the following tibute BLACKSTO CK which was used at his Memnorial Service. "Blair may be considered one of the distinguished graduates of Cartwrighit High School. He completed years in 4 - an accomplishment achieved by a very limited number of students. Although hie was a bard worker at home, bis alert and inquisitive mind and his sense of organization enabled him to cope academically.. His sense of humour, bis easy-going manner, his determination and willingnes to work, ail produced a good rapport with staff and students. During his school years Blair was an active and enthusiastic participant in ail aspects of school life, including such diversified activities, as Dramna,'Choir, Chess, Curling, Skiing, Outers' Club and Track and Field. He was not only a participant in these clubs,, b ut a loyal and enthusiastic member, willing to do bis best for his group. Winning first place was not his prime objective; more important to hlm was the sense of accomplishment derived from his having tried bis best. In many situations bis sensitivity about the feelings and needs of others took priority over his own personal wants. As a resuit Blair was very well liked and respected by ail. His desire to learn and his sense of purpose took him to the University of Guelph where hie received his Diploma in Agriculture. His courses were supplemented by his involvement in 4-H and Jr. Farmer's Programs. His ambition was shown in that hie took extra courses in his final year, aIl his courses were chosen with the idea of implementing theory into practical situations. Blair, through his many fine qualities, has lef t us a legacy to be cherished and remembered with fond affection. " Senior Citizens Enjoy Bus Trip Ideal weather, good companionship, and an interesting itinerary combin- ed to make the June bus trip of the Bowmanville Senior Citizens Club an enjbyable outing. Its destination was Niagara Falls. The main highways were soon lef t behind and a leisurely drive through the narrow, winding roads of the fruit-growing district of the Niagara Penin- sula followed. A noon stop was made for a picnic lunch at Queenston in a spacious park beautifully landscaped and înteresting because of its historic associations. In the afternoon, after a pleasant drive to Niagara Falls, there was an opportunity to stroîl around the park thene te view the falîs from various vantage points and to appreciate the famous rose gardens and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stark visited Monday afternoon with his sister Mrs. Carlos Tamblyn, Orono. Mr. Edwin Ruthven, Port Hope spent Tuesday afternoon with his sister Mrs. Edna Dobson. Mrs. Ellen Farrow and Mrs. other horticultural attrac- tions. After a dinner in a restaurant at St. Catharines, an uninterrupted ride back to Bowmanville brought a satîs- fied group of Seniors home in early evening. Mr. D. Martin arranged the details,,of the trip and Miss Lilian Smith was in charge of the sale of tickets. Another memorably June day which was enjoyed for many members of the Club was the occasion of a Garden Party given by Community Care for all Seniors on the grounds of the Museum. The grounds were at their June best. Adequate seating arrangements had been arranged, the refreshments were delicious, and the hostesses most attentive. A tour of the Museum followed the garden party. Community Care is indeed an asset to the Community. Jenny Rypstra attended the Community Care Workshop held on Tuesday afternoon at St. John's Anglican Church, Bowmanville. Mr. Gordon Fairbank, Toronto was a luncheon guest Tuesday of Mr. and Mrs. Llew Hailowell and Jim. On Tuesday evening, Mr. Bert Trim with Mr. Orme Falls and Mr. Charlie Trim, both of Bowmanville attended the Blue Jays Basebaîl Game at the C.N.E. Stadium, Toronto. On Tuesday evening, the Pines Senior Public School held their graduation exercises. Graduating from Starkville were Michele Bamsey, Jeff Caswell, Jeff Farrow, Bicky Farrow, Terry Hollingsworth and Vernon Carman. Mrs. Bernice Stark and Mrs. Edna Dobson attended the Salad and Ham Supper held Wednesday evening in Kendal United Church Hall. Mrs. John Layng spent Wednesday in Toronto visiting her mother Mrs. Dyer. On Wednesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Bert Tnim and Mrs. Gordon Trim were in Toronto to attend the wake of their boyhood friend Mr. Jim MeBnide, Toronto. On Wednesday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Soucb and Brian, and Patrick Woods attended the lst Kirby Cub Pack Family Night of Games held at Kirby Centennial Public School. Thursday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Murphy were Mr. and Mrs. Harold McColm, Kathleen and Ginny, Oshawa, Mr. Andy Murphy and Mary, Bowmanville, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murphy, Tony, Larry and Theresa, Trenton.
