In the end, it came down to>a tight contest between Lindsay Merchants and Doug Brown Stables from Oshawa-Kedron, with Doug Brown winning the final of the A Section 4 to 1. On the l4th of June, Courtice clasbed with Bowmanville for the third time and Courtice came out on top of a 3-2 score. The Cougars scored three russ in the bottom of the ninth to win. Joe Fusco came through, in the clutch and delivered a two rus single. Doug Pickell went the distance on the mousd pitching a three bitter to collect the victory. On the following 'Saturday Port Hope ventured into CÇourtice and once again the Cougars won this time by the score of 10-6. The Courtice attack was led by Paul Osborne wbo had a triple and two singles, Gord Sharp collected a double and single. Joe Fusco wbo had a home rus and a double, Scott Down and Neil Campbell also collected two hits. Joe Fusco picked up the victory for Courtice. Next the Cougars travelled to Little Britain. The Courtice Squad coasted'easily to a 17-10 victory over the young Little Britain squad. Doug Pickell pitched a solid game for Courtice and also bit up a storm at the plate as he, collected five bits. Close bebind was Gord Sharp and Neil Osborne with four bits. Kevin Wilbur and Gerry Tuskey eacb had three bits, with Jeff Down stroking two. Altogetber Courtice bad 27 bits. The very next nigbt at Courtice, Ajax were tbe Cougars opposition. Joe Fusco was pitcbing a no bitter througb eigbt innings before he allowed two bits in tbe ninth. Courtice couldn't seem to put an attack together until tbe bottom of the nînth wben Steve Grylîs bit a two run homer to seal a 4-2 win for the Cougars. June 26 was a nigbt Courtice would llke to forget as tbey were- pounded by Oshawa Legion 19-2. Kevin Wilbur and Neil Osborne eacb had two bits for Courtice. Courtice got back on the winning track witb a 7-4 triumph over the Keene Lions. Courtice bit two home-ruas, Doug Pickell bit a two run shot in the eighth inning with Scott Down hitting a tbree runshsot in fourtb inning. Down also had another single along with Gord Sharp, Gerry Tuskey and Jim Wren. Joe Fusco col- lected two bits as well as the win for Courtice. Ini Courtice's most recent game, they played the squad from Wbitby. Once again Doug Pickell pitched a solid 4 bit game to lead the Cougars to a 7-4 victory. Pickell also bit a home rus to deep centre field in the final inning to add bis own finishing touch. Scott Down, Richard Osborne and Paul Osborne each had two hits with Kevin Wilbur collecting a triple in the third inning. One week froôm this Thursday on July 19, the Courtice Cougars will be playing the Courtice Old- Timers at Courtice Memorial park at 6:15 p.m. Such stars as Tom Worden, Rick Gay, Gary Down and our own great coach Rae Pickell will lace up their spikes for a couple of hours of fun and pulled muscles. Frank's Variety had drawn a bye and came up against old rivals Kramp's Furniture who were out to do them in. For several innings, the score remained at 4-all but in the closing innings, Kramp's forged ahead and neyer looked back until they won 9-6 to take home the coveted trophy and prize money.
