The month of June is traditional not only for, w eddings and graduations but also for Ontario's Medal for Good Citizenship. Lix years ago Premier William Davis announced the creation of the Ontario Medal for Cood Citizenship to fionour our citizens who Sam at Q ueen 's Park perform acts of service to their felloW neiglibours in an exceptional Way. The award is not offered in recognition of services, achievement or personal menit. Neither is it presented to a person Who, in the course of their prof essional duty, lias provided a public service. Recipients of the award are citizens whose thoughtfulness would not ordinarily be acknowledged or rewarded. By paying tribute to the inspirational efforts of a few citizens, goodwill and fellowship are rromoted and passed rom community to community. This June there are thirteen recipients of the medal and one of those people resides right here in Oshawa. She is Mrs. Anne Galbraith who, I understand. lias been a tireless volunteer for more than 20 years. Mrs. Galbraith's volunteer activities include being a Girl Guide Leader, Sunday Sehool teacher, volunteer for the Crippled Children 's Centre and one of the committee members starting Cheshire Homes for the Handicapped. I arn sure that many of my constituents know or are aware of others like Mrs. Galbraith who are deserving of such an award. If you wish to submit a nomination, a form may be obtained by writing:- The Secretary, Advisory Council, Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship, Room 463, Legisiative Building, Queen's Park, Toronto M7A lAi. It certainly is heart warming to know that some people have the courage and thoughtfulness to take a little- time from their busy days just to help others. ~a~apa 2M PICK YOUR OWN Congratulations te Mr. and Mrs. Blain Ronald Moffatt, the former Miss Joan Katbryn Duvail on their marriage on Saturday afternoon, July l4tb, 1979.
