She is president of Match' International Centre, and told of its formation and purpose. In 1975, Women's International Year, she and another lady from Ottawa attended a. gatbering of women from around the world in Mexico. They talked with groups. from different countries and a great desire was born to do something for women in the world, rather than give ite the defeatist, what can do? So following discussion at home in Ottawa tbey decided there was a need on one side and resources on the other; what was required was a centre te connect the two,. They wrote te the knowledgeable women in many countries and asked if this was what tbey wanted. The entbusiastic answers came back; tbey would tell the project needed and the new organization would contact the resources bere. Since that time projects have beeft completed in 48 or 9 countries. For instance in India there was a need for a specialy trained leader te teach a staff i India' te care for spastic children. A lady doig that werki Ottawa, got four weeks' leave et absence, went tbere and did the job. Another was te build a market p lace for womnen wbo bad, i Africa, previeusly sat on the roadside te seil tbeir produce. Many things, for us taken for granted, are for people i other lands, pressing needs and Match International' prevides the connecting link between need and belp. Miss Walmsley, althougb still presi- dent, bas served without pay but now feels tbe need te get back te bier teacbing work.
