Miss Candy Storks, Blind River, spent the weekend with ber parents Mr. and Mrs. William Storks and attended the Scbmahl-Gari-od wedding on Saturday. Miss Linda Williams, Scarborough was also a week- end guest of the Storks and attended the Schmahl Garrod wedding. Mi-. and Mrs. Lai-iy Pearce, Michael and Jeffi-ey, have returned from their vacation at a cottage on Beare Lake. Mi-s. Louise Jose recently enjoyed a ten-day visit with ber son and bis wife, Dr. and Mrs. Douglas Jose and grand- daughter Darrell, Saskatoon. The International Lily Show was a joy to visit and one member, Mrs. Frank Zegers, of the Orono Society is to be congratulated on ber prizes. The annuals and roses in the gardens were beautiful. Mrs. Violet Osborne, Bow- manville spent the weekend with ber sister, Mrs. Marie Gibson and they were among those who enjoyed. the Horticultural Bus trip. Mi-. and Mrs. Sid Lancaster attended the 25th anniversary open house for Mi-. and Mrs. Allen Werry, Enniskillen and were supper guests of Mrs. Cecil Slemon, Hampton. On Sunday at the spacious grounds of the Maurice Pedwell residence, Third Line, the annual Allin-Down Pîcnic was held. One hundred and tbree attended with Mi-. Howard Allin the oldest and tbree under one year. Miss Debbie Pedwell is enjoying the summer at Camp Adelaide, Haliburton. Debbie is on the waterfront staff. Mr-. and Mrs. Ronald Powell and Gai-y have returned from a western motor trip. En route they visited his cousins the J.A. Selby's, Grand Coulee and her cousins Mrs. Bob Adams and family and Mrs. Doris Pascoe and David, Saskatoon. They enjoyed the beautifui scenery of Banff and Lake Louise and also spent a day at the Calgary Stampede. Mrs. Audrie Brown is spending a few days this week with her friend Anna in the Owen Sound area, visiting "auld acquaintances." Mrs. Hazel Whittake- and Mrs. Audrie Brown were Sat. p.m. B.B.Q. dinner guests at Malconia to observe Hazel's birthday (ber 39th?). Despite their pleas, we did not permit them to go "skînny-dipping"! On the last Sunday in July, a pot luck dinner will be beld in Churcb Hall following Chruch Service to bid au revoir to Rev. Stanley and Mrs. Haines. As usual the ladies will bring the lunch, the men will bring the "pots". It is hoped that a good turnout will be present as evidence of the community's appreciation of Stan 's service to our cburch. On Sat. evening the Kenning- tons had Mi-. and Mrs. Bei-t Reel and Mi-. and Mrs. Dave HeINp your I-ERT Vema Jakeman returnea home last Thursday from a wonderful 14-day holiday, travelling by air, train, bus and boat. They flew from Edmonton north to Yellow- knife. visited White Horse. Dawson City, Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk at the Arctic Ocean. The cruise down the coast brought them to Van- couver from whence they flew home having covered 11,000 miles. An envious journey! Anglican Church News Flowers in memory of Mrs. Mattson, whose funeral took place from St. George's Anglican Church on Saturday, graced the sanctuary on Sunday. Beautîful roses, the gift of Mr. A. Mavin, also were appreciated. Mr. Oakley Peters took the service at 9 a.m. on Sunday, July 15. Plates, with the picture of St. George's Church on them, are available from members of the Youth Club and Fellow- ship Club. United Church News On Sunday, July 22 worship- pers of Newcastle Church will congregate at Orono United Church along with those of the Orono Pastoral Charge at 10 o'clock in the morning. In a hard-fought final garne in Newcastle on Saturday afternoon, this ladies lobb bail tearn frorn Orono won a tournarnent involving four local tearns. The Orono group sponsored by Midas Muffler won in two extra innings of overtirne play against the St. Marys Cernent tearn from Bowrnanville. Teams taking part in the Newcastle tournarnent included Champlain Truck Stop, Jensen Steel, St. Marys Cernent and Midas Muffler.
