CRTC - Public Notice 1979-117 Ottawa, September 17,1979 Selling Your House by Ed Vanhaverbeke F.RI. EDVAN REALTY LTD. WHAT KIND 0F FIX-UP? How much should you invest in the house you plan ta seil? What kînd of home improvements are worthwhile? The answer can't be cul and dried, of course, but there are a few rules of thumb: **Cosmetic improvements, such as a clean paint job, are a must; -*Basic improvements, such as a new roof or a recently- installed hot water heater, will help you get a better price; **A new kitchen, and a modernized bath will go a long way ta making your home more salable; but **Specjalized improvements, such as a tennis court or swimming pool, any special-purpose rooms, will not bring in what you paid for them. Preferences are different around the country, of course. Screened-in porches are popular in one area, fireplaces in another. Generally, you'll do well putting money into THE IMPROVEMENTS THAT YOU WANT TO LIVE WITH, the things you will enjoy. The pleasure you get is the best return on your investment. For the best return on your housing investment, list with Edvan Reaity Mt. 6343,8-73 1353 KING STREET EAST, OSHAWA, i,
