According to Morley Watson, Manager of Bowmanville's Public Utilities Commission, the buried cable which supplie gower to the existing maIl will e in conflict with the design of the new extension. A fifteen foot section of the addition will- pass over the buried cable'and this is not an allowable situation, said Mr. Watson. The PUC manager said the cable was laid in accordance with the original design of the complex and was not expected to interfere with future expansion. The developer bas two choices, stated Mr. Watson. The cable must either be relocated or the building will have to be redesigned in order to skirt the underground hydro cable. Architects for the mall's extension are presently studying the probleni and are expected to corne up with a cost wise decision in the near future. Construction of the extension is not being held up as a result of the cable problem since builders could feasibly start work along the north section without involving themselves in the area which must be altered, saîd Mr. Watson. A lengthy delay is not expected before architeets arrive at a suitable solution.
