The date of the meeting bas been set for Thursday, October 25 and the time is 7:30 p.m. Durham's Regional Council agreed this year to establish a committee which would carry out a study of Bill 162 which established the regional government system for Durham in 1973. The commit- tee consists of a representa- tive from each of the eight Durham municipalities and is chaired by Oshawa Mayor Jim Pottîcary. As part of the committee's investigation, public meetings nave-been scheduled for area municipalities within the Durham Region in order to give residents a chance to contribute to the projeet. Sehool boards, public utilities commissions, police commissions and conserva- tion authorities have been invited to. make written or verbal comments along witb the Cildren's Aid Society and the Health Unit. The first, meeting of the committee was scbeduled for October 3 in Ajax and the last of the meetings to ne held in area municipalities will take place in Whitby in late November.
