Anglican Church News St. George's Anglican Church was beautifully decorated for Harvest Thanksgiving. Parishoners contributed fruits and vegetables. The Altar Guild were ahl present to place the vegetables and fruit. Flowers on the altar were placed in memory of Edward J. Belsey and son Jarvis and were given by Mrs. Belsey and family. Rev. Allan Haldenby spoke of the tremendous blessing God has given us in our fertile fields. He spoke of the fii e farmers and gardeners of =~ area who put so much effort into tfreir work. He said that the c 1trch followed their example in husbandry and so fulfilled the command of Jesus to make disciples. God pronmises to give Joy and Blessing to the people of faith. The choir sang the anthem, The Thanksgiving Song. >A good congregation joined in their act of Thanksgiving for this harvest and the nation. At St. Saviour's Church, Orono, the Young People's Choir made their debut under the guidance of Mrs. Gloria Gray, Roger Proctor assisted Mrs. Haldenby at the organ. Inspect Con trol Panel at Newcastle's New Water Supply Plant The brand new $2.8 million water supply plant in Newcastle Village is expected to make water shortages a thing of the past. The plant was officially opened last Wednesday, October 3. However, it will be a few more weeks before the facility is completely ready for use. Control panel shown here gives operators information on what is going on inside the plant. Shown from left to right are: Durham East MP Sam Cureatz; Regional Works Commissioner Bill Twelvetrees; Keith Barr, local councillor for Ward Three; and Harry Parrott, Ontario's Environment Minister. Mr. Parrott officially opened the facilities last week. Newcastle's water supply plant replaces a well which used to supply the village with water. A new 400,000 gallon reservoir on Arthur St. is another component of the village water system. The plant can serve a population of 7,000 with extra capacity in reserve.
