This happy young lady is Jayne Frances Robbins who wili be one year old on November 13, 1979. Her Parents are Rob and Judy Robbins of Solina, and she has two brothers, Steven and Robbie. Her.grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. G. Stevenson, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Kempt and her great grandmother is Mrs. J. Stevenson, ail of Oshawa. BLACKSTOC SA fine crowd of relatives and friends attended the Canada Cord Ceremony on Sunday evening in the United Church whnthe- highest award in Guiding was presented to Tracey Cochrane, Sharon Hoi- liday, Elizabeth Kelly and Robynn Ward. The programme began with the processional of Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers led by a color party. Af ter the singing of 0' Canada the Colors, were receîved by Mrs. Taylor. Rev. V. Parsons welcomed the young people and the friends on behaif of the Board of the United Church and also offered his congratu- lations to the four honored Guides. Miss Susan Sheen, District Commissioner chair- ed an interesting programme in which girls from ail groups participated. t was hased on the words Girl Guide with each letter being acted out. Miss Sheen presented the Canada Cords to the four girls which other presentations to the Canada Cord Guides were made by the Brownies and Guides. the Local Associa-, tion, the Woodland Division, the Mothers' Auxiliary and the parents of the girls. The four girls then made a surprise presentation of fiowers to their mothers. The Rangers invîted the four girls to advance to their group. Following closing prayers and Taps, Rev. V. Parsons gave his commission- ing and blessing. The colors were presented by Mrs. Taylor after which the Color Parties and groups had a formai recessional. A reception in honor of the four girls was given by their parents in the Christian Education Room following the programme. The lovely tea table was graced by a floral arrangement in red and white, the colors of the Canada Cord flanked by red burning tapers. Pouring in Tracey's honor were Mrs. Eva Cochrane and Mrs. Mary Fice in Sharon's hionor-wýere MrsWalter Hoiiiday and Mrs. Doris Nottingham, in Elizabeth's honor were Mrs. Bill Kelly and Mrs. Reg Boundey and in Robynn's honor were her two aunts from Claremont. Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Cochrane and family were Mrs. Eva Cochrane, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Fice, Port Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dart, Woodville. The leaders were so pleased with the girls of the Calorie Cutters that they have to let everyone know that the girls lost 141/2 pounds this week. There were a few gains but those girls will work harder. Anyone who, would like to know more about the club, cal 986-4373. :The Senior Grades of the Public School held a Hallowe'en Dance at the school on Friday af ter school. The Couples' Club held a masquerade party on Satur- day evening at the home of Bruce and Judy Crawford with 12 couples attending. The best dressed couple was decided as Audrey and Eddy Brown, the most original- Elsie Simmons. the weirdest- Larry Mackie. Winners of the other.contests were Marilyn and Grant, Rodger Simmons and Bruce Crawford. Recently Mrs. Roy McLaughlin, Mrs. Doug Sleep, Mrs. Harold Larmer and Mrs. Harold Martyn attended a Ministry of Agriculture Train- ing Course on Indoor Garden- ing at Maple Grove. The course included plant grow- ing, propagation, growing of cacti, terrariums, dish gardens and the making of a macrame plant hanger as well as cooking with herbs grown in your own home. These ladies hope to hold the first of a two evening session on Thursday, November 15. Please contact one of the ladies. The Senior Citizens had 24 tables at the weekly Tuesday evening card party. Winners were 1. Carson Parish - 85; 2. Bert Gibson - 85; 3. Lloyd Fawns - 84; 4. John Broome - 84; 5. Roy Werry - 81; 6. Myrtie Manns - 79. Low - Susie Harris. A group of 20ý boys and two leaders were camping at Ivan Mountjoy's ranch on a Four Season Camping Badge during the weekend. These Scouts went on Friday evening and camped out until Sunday afternoon. The O.N.O. Hailowe 'en Dance on Saturday night at the Rec. Centre was a fine success. There were il prizes for best costumes given.
