We~iddiqeI Trinity United Church, Bowmanville, was the scene of a lovely wedding, on Satur- day, October 6, 1979, at 3 p.m. when the Reverend John Peters, united in marriage Carol, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis, 84 Prospect Street, Bowmanville, and Warren Stanley Alder, son of Mrs. Ronald Ader, 42 Centre Street, Bowmanville, and the late Mr. Ader. The organist was Mr. John Crookshank, and Joff Taylor played the trumpet. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown which featured a sweetheart neckline, an empire waist, full bishop sleeves, which were highlight- ed by guipure lace. A full skirt of chiffonette, fell into a chapel train. Wearing a French illusion finger tip veil, she carried a cascade of Happiness red roses, cherry blossom, and baby's breath, and wore the groom's gif t of a diamond pendant. The maid of honor was Pat Hofstede, and the bridesmaids were Johann Porter, Sheila Lewis, sister-in-law of the bride, and Patti Devitt, sister of the groom. Wearing formal gowns of dusty rose metallic jersey, they carried nosegays of dusty rose, antique pink and burgundy asters. Best man was Steve Davey, and the ushers were Ron Lewis, brother of the bride, Wayne Devitt, brother-in-law of the groom, and Craig Colvin. They wore two toned grey suits with burgundy boutonnieres. Melissa and Michael Devitt, niece and nephew of the groom, served as flower girl and ring bearer. At the reception held at the Bowmanville Country Club, the bride's mother wore a gown of teal blue with a corsage of pink silk roses. She was assisted by the groom's mother who wore an off white formal gown, with a corsage of ivory pink silk roses. Leaving for a honeymoon at the Fern Resort, Orillia, the bride wore a burgundy velvet pant suit, grey accessories, and a corsage of pink roses. Joan Kathryn Duvall became the bride of Blain Ronald Moffat on Saturday, July 14, 1979, at 4 p.m., in the United Church, Orono, with the Reverend Basil Long officiating. The organist was Mr. Douglas Dewell, and the soloist Mr. David Gray. The bride's parents are Herbert and Eira Duvall, and the groom's parents are John and Berniece Moffat, all of Orono. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of sileste crepe, which was enhanced with a double capelet, mandarin collar, a set in chiffon yolk trimmed with Alencon lace which flowed softly into a full chapel train. A lace camelot held a fingertip silk illusion veil with a rolled edge, and she carried a bouquet of silk flowers, coral rose, stephano- tis, baby's breath and ivy. The maid of honor was Miss Betty Adegeest, of Toronto, and the brîdesmaids were Mrs. Pam Duvall, sister-in- law of the bride, Miss Joanne Kennedy, cousin of the bride and Mrs. Susan McLaren of Orono. 'They wore identical formal coral blouson sun- dresses, with sheer, long sleeved floral jackets. Best man was Mr. Donald McClaren, and the ushers were Douglas and Ian Moffat, brothers of the groom and John Duvall, brother of the bride. The bride's mother wearing a formal ivory chiffon over tlaffeta gown, matching lacé jacket, and a coral carnation silk flower corsage received the guests at the reception held at the Orono Community Centre. She was assisted in receiving by the groom's mother who wore a gown of dusty rose and a silk pink rose corsage. For a honeymoon at the West Coast, the bride chose as a going away outfit a three piece, blue plaid suit, with a silk yellow rose corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Moffat are now residing in Orono. Prior to the wedding the happy couple were honored with family showers given by Mrs. Pam Duvall, and by Mrs. Beatrice Gould. A Jack and Jill shower was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald McLaren. Miscellaneous showers were given by Mrs. KENDAL Mr. and Mrs. Harold Little from Campbellford spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Little. Mrs. Eleanor Foster attend- ed the double fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs, Joe Cantrell and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Gilmour on Saturday afternoon held in the Vincent Massey Memorial Centre in Bewdley. Several from the Kendal area attended the Kirby U.C.W. bazaar on Saturday. It was held in the auditorium of Kirby Centennial School. There was a large bazaar and their display of hand made quilts was most beautiful. All church services on the charge were back to normal after the three anniversary services. Sunday morning Rev. A. Tizzard continued his series of sermons on the books of the New Testament. He entitled his sermon "The Gospel in Letters Also", taken from I Thessalonians 1:5. On Saturday of this week is Kendal U.C.W. Annual Bazaar and we were reminded the following Saturday is Newton- ville Bazaar. On Saturday afternoon the members of the Sunday School, teachers and some parents enjoyed a swimming party at Port Hope Sports Complex. There were twenty- six children and seven adults in attendance and report having a wonderful time. At Kendal card party last Friday evening there were nine and a half tables ii play and the winners were as follows: high lady - Bessie Stevenson, low lady - Margaret Seens, high gent - Cathy Switzer, playing on a gent's card and Arthur Clark got the low gent's prize. The 50-50 draw was won by Dora MacDonald. Donna Hulton, and Mrs. Bonnie Reid, of Orono, and by Miss Betty Adegeest. A family picnic and shower was given by Mr. and Mrs. Aleck Moffat, Orono. - Photo by Astor Studio FUL Father Tom O'Conner solemnized the marriage of Joanne Patricia St. Denis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo St. Denis, North Bay, to Kenneth John MacGregor, son of Mr. and Mrs. James MacGregor, R.R. 3, Bowman- ville, on Saturday, September 29, 1979, at 3 p.m., in Pro Cathedral of the Assumption in North Bay. The organist was Robert Polongio. The bride wore a formal gown of white organza and was given in marriage by her father. The gown featured a V neckline, fitted bodice, long see-through puffed sleeves, trimmed with polyester lace appliques and gathered to six inch lace trimmed cuffs. The full skirt, trimmed with looped lace, gave a double skirted effect and flowed into a chapel train. An appliqued band held a tulle illusion veil and she carried a bouquet of pink and white roses. The matron of honor Karen Whiteside, and the brides- maids Lynn St. Denis, Sandy Doyle and Mona Purdon, wore formal gowns of cranberry polyester jersey, short sleeved cer»c- jackets and carried long stemmed white roses. The flowergirl, Cathy Church, niece of the bride wore a formal burgundy and blue cotton print gown and carried a nosegay of pink and white roses. Best man was David MacGregor, brother of the groom, and the ushers were Jim Young, Neil Ryan and Gary Lacroix. A reception was held at the Pinewood Park Motor Inn where the guests were receiv- ed by the bride's mother who wore a formal gown of sandalwood polyester with a a. Guests were present from Sudbury, Espanola, Massey, Toronto, Fredericton, N.B., Oshawa, Bowmanville, Courtice, Beaverton, London, Ottawa, Quyon, Quebec, and North Bay.
