Excellent passing was performed by Mort Richards, and good efforts were turned in by'Ed Leaver, Doug Cattran and Bob Dow. FLASHBACK - 10 YEARS AGO - Joe Caruana was the big gun for BHS Redmen Football teamt when they defeated Ajax 26-O, seoring three touchdowns for BHS. Froats, Larry Devitt, Paul MeArthur and Harvey Williams collected three TD's and three converts. Defeating Anderson, a week later, 20-O, the scorlngguns were Caruana, Cattran and Devitt. BRANCH 178 - of the Royal Canadian Legion, Euchre team, winners of the 1978 Provincial Tournament, won the annual Euchre Tournament, held recently in Kingston, against teams from the Canadian Council of the Blind, winning a plaque and many fine gifts. The players were W. Park, A. Sheehan, N. Woodcock and R. Scott. They report a wonderful day of fellowship and sports with many blind players from aIl over Ontario. CONGRATULATIONS - to Marg. DON OKE - captain, of the Duffers, and his team Norm Webb, Ralph MeIntyre and Bruce Haick, defeated the Hookers 6-2 in the Bowmanville Goodyear Plant house league, golf championship. Don tied with Jiggs Cowling for low gross (85) while Ralph Melntyre had low net (56) with an eagle on the sixth hole. TENNIS - More than 200 professional women tennis players from twenty countries are expeet- ed to compete in the $25,000 third annual Avon Futures of Toronto at Cobblestone Courts, Feb- ruary 5 to February 17, 1980. The four top finish- ers will move directly into the Avon Champion- ship circuit, the highest level of women's tennis, and is open to ail ages. Eagies gave up an eariy game iead to the Panthers in the second period which the fast skating Panther forwards carried the play to Eagies and were f ull value for a five to five tie after two periods of piay. Panthers moved out in front in the third periodbut the Eagles refused to give up, rookie Randy MacDonald scored the ty ing goal on a break away then the power play game winner by Tom Dwyer at the 13:16 mark of the perioci. The first perîod went score- iess while the second saw Pickering put two on the board, The third period beionged to the Toros who scored three power play goals to pull ahead 3 to 2 at the 7:56 mark. The Buils went on to score two more to finish wîth 5 goals in one period and the game won 5 to 2. Scoring for Bowmanviiie were Dave Mason, Randy Hawthorn, Kevin Welsh, and Greg Smith with 2, -assists went to Kevin Weish, Kevin Anyan, Randy Hawthorn, Don King, Jimmy Hogarth and Marc Richards. They did make an impression with their desire to play they game according to the rules taking only two penalties to nine for Markham. Markham scored in the first period and Kevin Welsh and Darcy Cummings set up Captain Marc Richards who blasted one past' Markham's netminder. The second period ended with Markham scoring three more. The third period the Toros heid their own and the game ended, 4 to 1 for Markham.
