Brian and Blaine Souch spent Friday with their grand- parents Mr. and Mrs. Harold Souch. Miss Erin Murphy, Newton- ville was a Friday overnight guest of her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Murphy. On Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Woods and Mrs. Warren Carson and Wilson, visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lowery, Peterborough. Mr. and Mrs. George Cook, Rupert and Caroline, Toronto were guests for the weekend with Mrs. John Layng and Dyana. On Saturday morning, Mrs. Clifford Fonk and Tan ya and Mrs. Sidney Cowan)and Kevin attended the Durham County 4-H Homemaking Classes Achievement Day held at Kirby Centennial Public School. The unit just complet- ed was Neediepoint and there were many beautiful articles of neediepoint made by the groups on display. Mr. and Mrs. David Ruther- ford, Michelle and Mark, Orono were Satuday luncheon guests of Mrs. Isabelle Trim. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Lynn, Kevin and Heather were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert O'Driscoll and family, Milton and attended a family Christmas dinner there on Sunday. At a meeting of regional council in Whitby last Wednes- day, elected offîcials accepted a recommendation to main- tain existing prices at the Durham Industrial Estates and the Sunderland Industrial Park. The region's management committee recommended that industrial lands in the Durham Industrial Estates average not less than $45,000 an acre and land in the Sunderland Industrial Park will average not less than $12,000 per acre. These basic prices on industrial property owned by Durham are to remain in effect unti'l June 30, 1980. Graham of the Ontario Provincial Police announces that a major effort involving special patrols is now in effect throughout OPP jurisdiction to combat the drinking driver. The Christmas slogan of Ontario police forces is: "Working Together for a Safer Holiday. " Commissioner Graham emphasizes "Saving lives over the holiday season is our highest priority.
