Union prayer services will be held by the several churches of Oshawa on the first Wednesday night in each month. The first service was held in Simcoe-st. Methodist Church Wednesday-Dee. 1. Rev. John Garbutt, pastor, addressed the boys and girls of the Junior League at the morning service in Simcoe-st. Methodist Church, Oshawa, and in ' the evening to the Senior League. A male choir assisted with the music. Coboiirg Presbyterians are to be commended commended for this resolution: Resolved, that we, the congregation of St. Andrew's Church, Cobourg, in session assembled, do respectfully express our disapproval in bringing to a vote the question of church union at the present inopportune time. We consider that .the matter could have remained an open-question until after the settlement of the struggle in Europe. Mrs. (Rev.) W. C. Washington attended on Wednesday the ordination services of her son Rev. C. C. Washington, B. A., pastor of the Roseneath Methodist circuit, who was ordained to the ministry of the Methodist church by Rev. H. B. Kenny, President of the Bay of Quinte Conference, Conference, assisted by Rev. Dr. S. J. Shorey, Port Hope, and other clergymen of the Cobourg District. Rev. Mr. Washington is a son of Rev. W. C. Washington, M.A., Bowmanville, a superannuated minister. He is one-of the brightest and strongest speakers among the young men of the Conference, and has commenced his ministry ministry at Roseneath, where he is already very popular under most encouragirg auspices. Anniversary services at Holloway and Marsh Hill appointments of the Foxboro circuits were outstànding successes. At Holloway Rev. S. A. Kemp of Enterprise was the preacher, and very large crowds greeted him at both services. His sermons sermons were both strong and interesting J expodtiodsuf the troth. Monday evening, Rev. C. E; CriggiR.D^ ôf -Grace Church, Napane#, delivered a most interesting and popular lecture entitled "Women who f oestp and men who swear." At Marsh 1111 Rev. Chae. Adams of Cherry Valley was the preacher on Sunday and also delivered delivered his popular and humorous lecture on Monday night 1 entitled "To and fro in the "Old Land", including a review of the greatest flect-of battleships ever collected enables him to so enrich his deliverances as to make them both edifying and very instructive. The lecture Monday evening evening proved to be most entertaining. The Marsh Hill friends generally agreed that it was one of the best lectures to _ which they had ever listened.
