J. Johnston, acting pastor of Simcoe-st, Methodist church is still indisposed indisposed at his home in Toronto Rev. E. C. Hall, travelling Secretary of the South Ontario Children's Aid Society, occupied the pulpit of this church Sunday. In the morning he delivered a most interesting discourse on "The Democracy of the church." In the evening his sermon was also much enjoyed The Bank of Com merce branch established here a few months ago has so prospered, under the management of Mr. Hyland and Mr. Little, Little, that permanent quarters are being sought. A 50 ft lot on west side of Simcoe-st, Simcoe-st, between King and Bond-sts, has beçn secured, upon which a handsome building will be erected, denoting the bank's prosperity and its faith in the town. Oshawa needs a number of respectable buildings of this kind on its principal streets to give a more composite appearance appearance to the business section. Also good sidewalks.are sadly needed in the heart of Oshawa. The curbings, broken pavements pavements and slanting walks make the centre of the town most impassable anywhere in the town in the winter months during a thaw or after a heavy rain any other time of the year.
