Those who heard Capt. J. W. Magwood preach in the Methodist Church some weeks ago will be pleased to know that he will give a lecture "Some Chop Stuff" regarding his work at the front, in the Methodist Church, Wednesday Oct. 3rd. Admission 15c. Proceeds for the Girls. Patriotic Club and Capt. Magwood's work' Word has been received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. J, Henry, that their only son Gr. Leonard J. Henry, R. N. C. V. R., of the "Canapos" a big man-of-war boat, came through the air raid of Sept. 5th at Chatham, England, unharmed altho several several comrades were killed. His family has been very anxious as to his safety since the news of the Chatham raid came. WEDDINGS. Dustan--Mitchell. A pretty wedding was solemnized at noon on Saturday, September 22nd, when Jelen Marguerite, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Mitchell, was united in marriage with Mr. Thomas A. Dustan, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Dustan both of this town. The Rev. H. B. Kenny of Cobourg officiated. The bride who was given away by her father, was unattended, wearing a suit of navy blue with hat to match and a corsage bouquet of Ophelia roses and orchids. During the signing of the register Mr. Roderick M. Mitchell sang "All Mine Alone." After luncheon the happy couple left on a motor trip and on their return will take up their residence in Bowmanville. Henry--Sharp A quiet but pretty wedding took place on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 2.30 p. m., at îome of the bride's parents, "Castle Brae arm",Enniskillen, whenChristina, second eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Sharp, became the wife of William Meredith Meredith Henry, Bowmanville, the Rev. Mr. Gomme officiating. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore her traveling traveling suit of blue poplin with taupe brocade brocade and picture hat of taupe. The bride was unattended. Miss Pearl Sharp, sister of the bride, played the wedding march. After the signing of the register the guests adjourned to the tea room where lunch was served. Friends from Paris, Toronto, Toronto, Peterboro," and Bowmanville were guests at the wedding. Ferguson--Barrowclough. A very pretty wedding took place at the îome of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Barrowclough, Barrowclough, Little Britain, September 12th. when their eldest daughter, Cora May, was married to Frank F. Ferguson, Oak- wood. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. H. S. Spence, of Little Britain, in the presence of immediate friends. The sride was given away by her father, and was attended by her sister, Della Barrowclough. Barrowclough. After the wedding breakfast, Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson left on a honeymoon honeymoon trip to Toronto, Niagara and points west.. On their return they will reside in Oakwood. A very pretty house wedding took place in Bloomfield- on Sept. 12, at 11 j'clock, in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Ca- îoon, when Miss Cassie May Black,youngest Black,youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. ohn V. Black, was united in marriage with Mr. W* Claude Ives, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Iv.es of Bowmanville. The ceremony took place in the pretty west- side room that was effectively decorated with many Sowers and greenery, together" with the traditional arch of fragrant cedar studded with white and pink asters. Lohengfin's'wtdding march was played by Miss Edna R. Nelson, a consul of the bride,-who was given away by her brother-in-law, brother-in-law, Dr. Gaboon. The pretty bride was charming in a simple white gown of crepe-de-chine, with a white satin sash, and a corsage ornamented with pearls-- ' she carried a bouquet of roses and carna- . turns Her only attendant was little Dorothy Gaboon, her neice, who looked very sWeet in her daintiness and acted as j ring-hearer and flower girl. Mr. and Mrs. Ives will reside in Bowmanville. Many beautiful presents werereceived. Previous to her marriage a miscellaneous shower was given the bride by her girl-friends at the home of Miss Genevive Smith.
